Sounds like Larry is playing Sunday Bloody Sunday, at least on the VMA version. During the "September..." part

At POPmart in Kansas City, I swore that was the case, but my friends (who are not fanatics like us) said I was reading way too much into it. So I explained the parallels between the songs, then they really thought I was a freak...

But I think you are onto something for sure.

Yes. The drums are definately Sunday Bloody Sunday drums. Nobody is reading too much into anything. That's what Bill Carter meant on U2: A Year in Pop when he said something about U2 still playing SBS, just now it's called Please.
