I've never been pleased about The Best of 1990-2000. The compilation doesn't present the 'experimental' period in which U2 have been for almost a decade.

For me, this would have been The Best of 1990-2000:

Agreeing with you on most things, but Gone Edit should be on it, I liked the extra Edge backing vocals

Well, I only wanna edit the intro from 2 minutes to 1 minute.

And IMO you can't put more than 4 songs from each album on a compilation, so no EBTTRT, LNOE etc.

Gone and Hold Me, Thrill Me complement each other, so to me they have to be by each other.

Last Night on Earth works well as the penultimate track.

This is my track list on my iTunes for the Best of 1990-2000. I tried to keep in mind two things: highlighting the commercially popular tunes while also showing off some of the more experimental works of the decade, with a flow that makes sense and allowing for as many tracks as possible. (This collection is 1 hour, 16 minutes long.)

I decided to hold off all ATYCLB tracks for the Best of 2000-2010 collection. For me, that's a start of a whole other era for U2

Although I first thought "why would they remix half the tracks on a 'Best Of' disc and thus ensure that these specific tracks are, in fact, no longer their best of the decade?", I've learned to live with their choices.

There are songs left off the release that would have been great on the list, but eh... I've bought them all many times over over time having been a gangly teen when War was released.
