This is the most talked about song, and I was able to get a hold of the final song. The lyrics are final;

Since the beginning of time
Being born was a crime
And life itself
Wasn't worth a dime

Through blind eyes we see
All the argue
And all the suffering

For the hearts that bleed
Relief can't come sooner
We're tired of excuses
An answer is all we need

But there is something we can do
But first it begins with you
Empowerment begins inside
We can all do something
To save thousands of lives

Put an end to it all
Solve and offer a solution
We need unity
We can stop the poverty

They call us dreamers
Say there's no plan
It's too late for man
To erase what man has done wrong

The time is now
This is our call
We'll show the world how far we've come
And someday we'll be one

sounds awful.

...not that that means bono didn't write it.

american prayer, anyone?

And here's the b-side:

Start (To Kneel)

I once was a child;
Now I am a man.
I was born Irish,
But I think I'm American.
And I like to talk about Africa,
Plagued by this and that disease.
I decided the goal is soul,
So can we have your money please?

'Cause if you start to kneel (start to kneel)
You'll begin to feel (begin to feel)
Beautiful blessings that heal (blessings that heal)
Wounds from Africa's raw deal (Africa's raw deal)

The night is heavy,
But it's lit by blinding lights.
I'll sing about New York
And the declaration of human rights
But my soul is in Africa.
My soul is elevated but my knees kneel
Because they've forgotten how to stand
And when you kneel, blessings you feel.

'Cause if you start to kneel (start to kneel)
You'll begin to feel (begin to feel)
Beautiful blessings that heal (blessings that heal)
Wounds from Africa's raw deal (Africa's raw deal)

One kneeling
One feeling
One soul
One goal

'Cause if you start to kneel (start to kneel)
You'll begin to feel (begin to feel)
Beautiful blessings that heal (blessings that heal)
Wounds from Africa's raw deal (Africa's raw deal)

One kneeling
One feeling
One soul
One goal
Africa, Africa, Africa, Africa!
Africa, Africa, Africa, Africa!

Rest assured, both Stop (The Poverty) and Start (To Kneel) will be debuted later this year, closing the main set at the following concerts:

22 December 2006, Giants Stadium, New York
26 December 2006, Point Depot, Dublin
27 December 2006, Point Depot, Dublin
30 December 2006, Athletic Park, Wellington
31 December 2006, Athletic Park, Wellington
32 December 2006, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
33 December 2006, WACA, Perth

The show in India on 37 December 2006 will just consist of New Year's Day x24, because it's all about India and the Indians can't get enough of hearing it so U2 will just play it over and over again. The fifth performance will have a Stop (The Poverty) snippet.
