Sicy, you've never heard of George Clinton? No relation to Bill, the master of funk..also largely responsible for the Chili Pepper's sound.

As for the lis...I love The Ramones...but #2...too high.
The Doors not on the top 50, but Korn at 48...please. I saw Korn play with Metallica and their backing tapes failed, revealing some lousy musicianship and one weak voice in Jonathan Davis... they do not belong.

Here's my personal 20 greatest list. I'd love to hear what y'alls greatest list looks like. DISCLAIMER - I have not heard or extensively listened to some of the artists on the original list.

1. THE BEATLES
2. U2
3. NIRVANA
4. THE WHO
5. LED ZEPPELIN
6. BEACH BOYS
7. PEARL JAM
8. RADIOHEAD
9. RAMONES
10. QUEEN
11. REM
12. THE ROLLING STONES
13. PINK FLOYD
14. BEASTIE BOYS
15. SIMON & GARFUNKLE
16. THE DOORS
17. GUNS N ROSES
18. THE CLASH
19. GRATEFUL DEAD
20. EAGLES

WHAT THE #@$%?
This list is beyond embarrassing. It's contemptible. Pearl Jam ahead of REM? Radiohead 34 slots ahead of Pink Floyd?
NIRVANA AHEAD OF THE ROLLING STONES??????
In what bizarro universe do the Beastie Boys deserve to be ranked ahead of the Jimi Hendrix Experience?? That invalidates the freaking list right there. It's beyond absurd.
THE WHO!! THE FREAKING WHO are ranked behind Blondie and KISS!! You've got to be kidding me. This list is so bad I'm shocked to hear that Korn didn't make it. Oh wait, they did...
This is every bit as bad as the list of the greatest songs ever compiled by Rolling Stone and MTV that had a Backstreet Boys song in the top ten.
I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I understand that taste is relative, but if a toddler told you that the Barney the Dinosaur theme song was better than Mozart you call the little whelp on it.
To me this utterly invalidates Spins declaration of U2 as band of the year. If Spin, the magazine that came up with this sad-ass list, thinks U2 are the band of the year they MUST be wrong. U2 must suck donkey balls.

An execrable list.

Pink Floyd #49, are they fekkin NUTS?????????

The Who at #39?????

And I'd definitely swap #6 and #16 - Hendrix should totally be included in the top 10, without a doubt.

Ramones, Bob Marley and Nirvana were definitely "infuential" but I don't think any of them deserve their numbers on this list. Maybe they should be in the top 20, but NOT the top 10.

Beastie Boys over the Velvets? And WHERE ARE THE DOORS??????

WHO made up this list anyway, and how OLD are they???????
