The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

wait what's up to more visually-present MP3-like format? like moving picture of the cover art and all that (didn't Bono say that that's their future vision for the album covers?)

You see more and more articles about virtual reality coming up. Makes business sense for sure. I just hope the music is good and I don't need to buy an apple headset to listen to the damn thing.

Songs Of A New Reason For Consumers To Spend

well you didn't need a headset to enjoy the SFS video.. it works with just a phone. obviously less immersive but still cool.

though I dont know if I could sit there for a 45-60 minute album spinning my phone around. will probably just buy the plan ol' record.

This all sounds like a replacement for sitting down and watching music videos, not actual music that you pay for. I'm not sure I understand how this will be a success when most people want their music to fit in with them, not the other way around.

well.......that's annoying

well it's not like it wont get a conventional release as well

Not me, I'll keep watching my Rattle and Hum UMD thanks

VR is actually incredibly cheap with "tech" like Google Cardboard.

I'd still be stunned if Apple did a big U2 announcement at their keynote again after how the last one went.

Apple had their first negative year since before the iPod in 2015. This is a big year for them and their stockholders. If they really are going to base their biggest presser of the year around the same band that got everybody mocked the last go around, they're either stupid or convinced that the tech is amazing.

Frankly I don't want to see it. Just drop it one random night without telling anybody and let it all speak for itself.

yeah I dont think they'd be wise to pin their future on U2.

if anything, they'll announce a new apple app that showcases the new tech, and maybe announce the release of multiple records featuring the new format... a new album from a current/young/awesome artist, maybe an established, "classic" album like Sgt. Peppers re-released with a crazy psychedelic VR companion , and also the new U2..

Well it makes sense that other records will be heavily featured (possibly more than U2) as some bands like Muse are actually doing it earlier than U2.

iPhone 7 comes with iOS 10, which will only include the following songs as ringtone options: Get On Your Boots, Grace, Big Girls Are Best, Stand Up Comedy, and the opening guitar bit from All Because of You.

LOL

The VR needs an option to add naked people to the music videos. Porn drives all innovation.

Disappointed it doesn't come with the opening Whoa-oh part of The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone). Everyone gets really excited when that starts playing on their phones.

Don't worry. If you don't your phone on vibrate to escape the ringtones, it will vibrate along to that part of The Miracle.

Does it make me dead inside that I am not impressed by this technology? Granted I only tried the U2 video.

This video is doing nothing because of the quality, I'd love to see how it would actually work with a decent quality vid. I'd sign for that.

What are you talking about?

The technology and the quality of this video is amazing. The content was lacking, but to say it was the quality and technology is not understanding what's going on. What are you watching it on?

I felt like I was in a bad video game. I tried a few other VR things. Just didn't feel that great.

What's the guess for how many SOE threads will have spawned before the album actually comes out (assumption is based on the album being released. Very well could go SOA route too...i.e. Never gonna happen)

Can go over/under

I say under 20

I don't have a phone that supports the VRSE app/software.
So the only thing I found was the video they posted on Facebook. Which is just, piss poor really.

I never found anything more decent than that. I need to check it again on something proper. How did you watch it, did you have the chance to actually see it in the bus?

Oh, well then you didn't really see anything, you just saw a normal boring video. I watched it on my iPhone.

I see where the technology "can go" but now we are still in its infancy.

The quality of the video in pixels , in this case on my laptop, see my post above.

But you know that the VR Song for Someone version is meant to be watched in the VRSE App on phone or tablet, right? :sexywink:

Becase on the laptop it is just a simple video. If you move your laptop the video stays in the same angle right? It is not just pixels ... it is the "immersive experience" which will make VR or AR (Augmented Reality) a very fun thing in the next years coming

I thought it was cool, liked it. I don't have a Google Cardboard, but I watched it on my phone with headphones and it worked well.
