She said it wasn't cold
She left her coat at home that day
She wore canvas shoes
White canvas shoes
Around her neck
She wore a silver necklace
It was given to me by my father, she said
It was given to me

She took the back way home
Passed the lights and the Summerhill
Turned left onto the North Strand
And on, and towards the sea

He said he was an artist
But he really painted billboards
In large capital letters
Large capital letters
He was telling jokes
Nobody else would listen to him

I saw you that day
Your lips were cherry red
Your legs were crossed
Your arms wide open

Your hair was coloured gold
Like a field of corn
You were blown by the wind
You were blown by the wind

Walk, walk, walk...to the water
Walk with me a while
Walk, walk, walk...to the roadside
Walk me in the light

A room in the Royal Hotel
Sea facing views
A man with a suitcase
Full of things he doesn't need
I'm looking through your window
I'm walking through your doorway
I'm on the outside
Let me in
Let me love you
Let me love you
Let me...

Walk, walk, walk...to the water
Walk with me...yeah
Walk, walk, walk...to the roadside
Walk with me again

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! I just got the b-sides and this song was instantly my favorite. It is just so magical! In fact, I was going to post this song too. Thank you for reading my mind! I think it would be really cool if they played this live.

whatever, this is the best b-side on the compilation.
its a beautiful song and shouldve been on the joshua tree right next to with or without you.

you want a shitty b-side? trash trampoline and party girl, thats one shitassed song

Beh... I can think of better B-sides. Take the original "The Sweetest Thing"

I think 'beh' is the perfect description. Give me Three Sunrises, Love Comes Tumbling, Spanish Eyes, The Sweetest Thing, Dancing Barefoot, Everlasting Love

This, along with the original Sweetest Thing, is my favorite b-side also.

I love the third-person story telling lyrics...if there was to be a video, i can imagine Harry Dean Stanton as the loser guy telling jokes to which nobody was listening.

And love Edge's guitar work, Adam's simple but effective bass line, and the Bono's vocals. I loved Bono's vocals on this and the original Sweetest thing.

it's actually called Walk TO The Water

and it's a cool b-side.

i absolutely love this song- each time i listen to it, i have to hear it more than once..and i love the shimmery sound of the guitar *sigh* ...and also the fact that after Bono sings "he was telling jokes, but no one else would listen to them" right after, if you listen real close you can hear someone, probably edge, say "except edge"

:)

Love the track, un-u2ish but its a work of art....very atmospheric....relaxing music, Bono is in fine form
