Song of the day 01/03: Red Hill Mining Town

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Listen to song
2. read the lyrics
3. Post your thoughts
-------------------------------------
From father to son
The blood runs thin
See faces frozen still
Against the wind

The seam is split
The coal face cracked
The lines are long
There's no going back
Through hands of steel
And heart of stone
Our labour day
Has come and gone

Yeah you leave me holding on
In Red Hill Town
See lights go down, I'm...

A powerful song, something about Kite reminds me of this one. I like the lyrics, I suppose it's a bit Springsteen-ish in that it describes poor working families.

The story goes this was to be the second single from Joshua Tree, and some say even a video exists, but as it turned out on the rehearsals for the tour, not even Bono could handle it vocally and so I still haven't found what I'm looking for got the single spot.

i love this song. part of the lyrics are missing in the first post, though. one of my favourite u2 lines ever is in this song:

we're wounded by fear
injured in doubt
i can lose myself
you i can't live without....

such an amazing song. shame bono's voice couldn't handle singing it live.
