After watching Charlie Rose, I wouldn't be surprised to see an anti-Trump rant being made by Bono at this event.

later in the interview, he said he wasn't going to tell people who to vote for.

I can see some sort of political statement that doesn't specifically call out trump, though, but does go after his ideas/policies.

AMERICA IS MORE THAN A COUNTRY ITS AN IDEA! AND DONALD TRUMP IS THE WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO AMERICA!
:crowd just goes fuckin apeshit:
this is "a little while"

U2.com finally posted about iHeart and there's.... not much info in the announcement. Not even a time. Hmm..

U2 > News > Live on iHeartRadio

On Friday night the band are in Las Vegas, headlining the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

The set goes out live on radio stations across the US. Tune in here.

It's almost as if they went out of their way as to not tease anything hahaha

Leaving aside a third-person rumour that dallas spilt the beans about new songs to superfans who are likely to immediately upload his words on fan forums, what I really care about is whether we get new music. Single, multiple songs, album, whatever.

I am pretty sure when U2 decided to play iHeart, they did it to promote new music through a deal that would see their stations putting new U2 song(s) on heavy rotation. They could have gotten cold feet, sure, but their activity and bono's words do not indicate there is anything hugely amiss.

I also cannot see how a song with The Best Thing's structure (assuming that the Kygo remix is not vastly different from the original) could be impossible to play for a band that has been around for 40 years. I mean even if they spent most of that time not playing music they would have no problems with it.

So I think the best thing being played later today is almost a sure thing. What I feel is certain is that even if they don't play it, it will be premiered in some fashion (the remix maybe, but that would be lame considering the band are right there on stage) and released right afterwards to radio and for download/streaming.

Other than that, if they are happy with the album, they do not need to be playing the songs perfectly live right NOW and release it anyway.

If they are not totally sure (that seems the worst case scenario judging by Bono's comments about whittling down 16 to 12/10) then it can be released later.

Something defiantly seems afoot, I mean everything about it is to low key

That Bullet and Desire tweet leads me to believe that they're playing a rather lengthy set, those aren't exactly world beaters when it comes to appealing to the kids.

Funny related note.... Bullet is my 7-year-old son's favourite song by a mile. He's borderline obsessed with it.

My nephew, who was seven at the time SOI was released, was borderline obsessed with Raised by Wolves. Seven-year-olds seem to dig the protest

I'm tempering my expectations and not expecting anything new tonight. We'll see if I can even stay awake to try and stream it.

If I skip it, I will read the interwebs tomorrow morning with extreme trepidation.

Yeah, I feel it isn't crucial from a promotional perspective to perform multiple songs tonight. All they'd really need to do is play TBT, then debut it to radio/itunes, along with an announcement for an album in 1-2 months.

Must be. He sits up in his room cycling through the Zoo TV, Elevation, album and I & E versions, singing every bit, including Bono's rants.

I just think it's funny because like the previous poster said, it's not the song I expected to resonate with a 7-year-old. Then again, when he was 5 and SOI came out, he was mesmerized by the drumming at the end. All about the anger!

Hah, that is awesome. Bono's rants especially.

I think there might be a chance that tonight B-Dawg could spit some bars over some new phat dope beats laid down by Lars and the crew.

Does the fact U2 is closing the show mean anything?
