Starting with the release of SOI, U2's last 2 years is release album, wait 8 months, tour for 6 months and now we have an at least 12 months gap until the next thing. For a band that still seems to want relevance this is ridiculous.

I think people want U2 to want relevance in music.

I think the "in music" thing sort of sailed with the public response to SoE force feeding. Bomb was their last album in which they weren't old men.

I, for my part, don't want them to seek relevance, but I want them to stay ambitious. For them that is the same thing, and it seems somewhat understandable.
