In the photos of U2 working on AB in the Hansa Studios, they've got a board with all the working titles of the songs they were recording.. Presumably something they do with each album.

Under Mysterious Ways it says SICK PUPPY as a possible title.... Anyone know what the relevance of that is?

....no doubt some clever clogs on here will inform us that 'Sick Puppy' turned into 'Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car' on the following record or something!

Down all the Days is also there as a working title, which I presume turned into Dirty Day (perhaps?)

A lot of songs have 'working titles' that get changed later. Led Zeppelin's song "Black Dog" was a working title chosen because of a stray black dog in the parking lot every day they were recording it. They intended to change it to something else later, but it stuck, so it honors that black dog to this day! I just hope MW's "Sick Puppy" was a reference to something funny or 'dirty' and not a real sick puppy:(
