That was a great read, and just one of those unexpected reminders of why I love U2 in the first place. A song with a permanent place in my top 5.

I rather enjoy Bono's "vagueness". A song shouldn't be written like you're speaking to someone next to you.

I dunno, "I wanna hold your hand" catapulted the beatles to stardom.

I like Bono's vagueness too, because it leaves lyrics open for interpretation. But even if it's vague, we all know what Running to Stand Still is about.

good read. I could never come up with something so eloquent to describe the song, nor so analytical. Like so many others, this song has a lot of personal meaning to me, and that's something you can't always put into words. But it's one of those beautiful understated songs that builds up but never completely climaxes. Easy to overlook, but really one of U2's best.

very good read, and easily into my top 5 U2 as well as being the best song on the Joshua Tree imho
