Smile, you're reading my post
As other threads have stated, a U2 icon, The Kitchen is closing down.
First they take Hanover and now The Kitchen, next they will be demolishing Windmill Lane!!!!

If you have a cool Kitchen story, please share. I know a lot of us do.

Mine is that I got to go to The Kitchen as part of a prize I won on the radio. I was allowed to sit at the band's table and treated to a great night. You can read my whole story here

I have a nice Kitchen story:
I was there twon nights- "hip hop night"and "Techno night". The first night I got SO drunk so I started to act reay stupid: I kissed a guy I didn`t know, I was yelling "Where is Bono?! Bring him to me!"
But the highlight of the night was when I came to the doorman (who was wearing an "Elevationg T-shirt") and said some thign like this:
"yOU TELL That ASSHOLE Bono and he should`ve been here!!! It`s Edge`s birthday, what kind of a friend is he?!?! He`s a fucking ASS! i`m his biggest fan u know..." It was Edge`s B-day.
The doorman kindsly and peacefully told me that If I wount go back into to the club I`ll be throun out never to be allowed to come back again. I did of course and I came back 2 night`s later and had a great time!
Only a little less drunk

I love "The Kitchen"! I believe I woun`t be closed but just changed to a better ,more special club or celebrity Drinking place. I think it`s for the best becuae some of the public wasn`t...ALL THAT shall I say!

Kitchen has alot of good days ahead!

"And there`s no mountain to high ,no river to wide. Sing out this song and I`ll be there by your side.Storm clouds may gather and storms may colide...
I love you untill the end of time.
Come what may! I will love you until my dying day!"

I had always wanted to go to The Kitchen...guess I've missed my chance. *sigh*

The doors you open...I just can't close..."

I'm not going to ever get to see it either...I'm pissed!

Holy crap, Zoomanda! What an awesome story!

As for me ... I remember when I went to Dublin and almost went to the Kitchen but then my travel mates and me were too tired.

At least we drank at the Octagon though.

I've told mine before....but in a nutshell:
Bono and Edge were there....I sat on this bench most of the evening a few feet from Bono, just staring and gawking at him (I was young - forgive me! It was 8 years ago!!!!)...The woman beside him pointed me out, Bono just turned around and laughed...he did this a few times....I was too awestruck to realize I should have been dying with embarrassment!!lol!

Anyhow, stupid me...turned out that the Aussie girls I went with ended up dancing with Edge for a good part of the night! They were so nonchalant and indifferent about it, I could have killed them!
And they didn't even come and get me!...I had to *settle* for staring at Bono....haha!

ah, good times indeed........

The most exciting thing was watching the water in the moat change colours.

LMAO I guess I should take that personally.

Amanda! I actually read your story yesterday and thought it was soooo cool!

As for the Kitchen, well... why is it closing? *There is probably another thread around here about it...

I only wnet there once, and I was sad and tired and soooo not the mood to be in a dance club. A lot of drunk people, the floor was soooo sticky and covered in broken glass. It had a neat layout, but the only highlight of being there was dancing to EBTTRT Dance Mix... Take me Hiiigher!

*Holds glass up - TO THE KITCHEN!

Man, that sucks. I would have love to have gone there someday.

BTW Manda, your story is incredible! What an amazing trip!!!!!!!!!

Noooooooo dont take it personally, in fact it was the company that made the kitchen half reasonable!!! In fact i remember about 10 seconds of boogie action from yours truly... should've known guilty feet have got no rythym.
