Your Blue Room triumphed over all the other songs that everyone here pretends to know but really hasn't heard since the album came out.

(I kid. )

ON TO POP!

VOTE FOR YOUR LEAST FAVORITE SONG

Polls will remain open for 48 hours, unless one song has taken enough of a beating after a day or so, in which case we'll call it an act of mercy and move on to the next round.

Songs in this round:

- Do You Feel Loved
- Mofo
- If God Will Send His Angels
- Last Night On Earth
- Miami
- Playboy Mansion
- Velvet Dress
- Please
- Wake Up Dead Man

Criteria for song selection (at least for the albums): anything on the regular pressings of the Best Of 1980-1990, Best Of 1990-2000, and U2:18 is excluded.

I'm kicking this off right by voting for The Playboy Mansion, which really deserves to go first.

The Playboy Mansion. At least Miami has some semblance of interestingnessity to it.

Playboy Mansion is very dull but Miami is very stupid. I can't decide. Can we vote them both off?

OK, PFan, let's have it out. What do you believe, specifically, makes Playboy Mansion worse than Miami? You've often considered it among the 5 worse songs they've ever done.

Have I? I don't think I've given Playboy Mansion the time of day for the most part. I usually spend more time talking about Babyface hatred and Lemon overratedness.

And this is why you're wrong more often than the average EYTK.....2S.....U2 section poster.

'Playboy Mansion'

I never did see that movie
I never did read that book
I never did like that song

And this is an ugly and brutally obvious choice of words but...

Can we please have 'Please' win this round? Please.

Gone
1. Last Night On Earth
2. Please
3. Do You Feel Loved
4. Wake Up Dead Man
5. If You Wear That Velvet Dress
6. Mofo
Staring At The Sun
7. If God Will Send His Angels
Discotheque
=8. Miami
=8. Playboy Mansion

Not very confident in that, though. 1-2 could easily swap places, and I can't decide which order 3-6 should be in either. Could change by the next thread. I'd be happy if any of those six won.

Like Achtung Baby, a poor studio effort, much improved live.

My live standings:
1. Please
2. Mofo
3. Gone
4. Discotheque
5. Last Night on Earth
6. If You Wear That Velvet Dress
7. Miami
8. Do You Feel Loved
9. Staring at the Sun
10. Wake Up Dead Man
11. If God Will Send His Angels

No, not quite like Achtung Baby. Popmart was garbage compared to Zoo TV.

The only Pop songs that were noticeably improved IMO were Miami, LNOE, Discotheque, Gone, and Mofo. And I would take the Best Of version of Gone over any Popmart version.

The small titles are for those songs not included in the poll, but indicating where they would be in such a ranking.

Agreed. Though, funnily enough, my favourite Pop song, Gone, is one that I don't think improved much at all.

My live rankings:
1. Please
2. Mofo
3. Discotheque (Popmart version at least)
4. Last Night On Earth
5. Gone
6. Miami
7. Do You Feel Loved
8. If You Wear That Velvet Dress
9. Staring At The Sun
10. If God Will Send His Angels
11. Wake Up Dead Man

I can't really decide what to do with SATS. The few times the electric version didn't collapse, it was great and would probably go in at #6. But the acoustic version was dull, and that's what I've based my ranking on.

It cracks me up every time you disparage Achtung Baby.

He's getting better at it than me. I applaud him.

Uh, where's Please? The live version of that absolutely slays the studio version. The studio version is great, one of my favourites on Pop, and yet almost unlistenable in comparison to the best Popmart versions.

I agree entirely with regards to Gone though. The New Mix is sensational.

He is, he'll rip it in the middle of any conversation. I love it.

"PFan, how was school today?"

"Not as bad as the mixing of Achtung Baby, but, not a great day either"

Axver, PFan is THE AMENDMENT, did you know this?

:lmao:

I can't even pull off Lovetown praise quite like that.

I haven't the foggiest clue what you're on about here, New South Wales.

It's a long story, but, it would be nice if you referred to him as THE AMENDMENT now and then, if for no other reason than as a personal favor to me.

:reject: Oops, forgot Please.

I do like the album version though. It's got the creepiest atmosphere to it, and flows great into WUDM.
