VOTE FOR YOUR LEAST FAVORITE SONG

Polls will remain open for 48 hours, unless one song has taken enough of a beating after a day or so, in which case we'll call it an act of mercy and move on to the next round.

Songs in this round:

- The Fly
- Ultra Violet
- Acrobat
- Love Is Blindness

Criteria for song selection (at least for the albums): anything on the regular pressings of the Best Of 1980-1990, Best Of 1990-2000, and U2:18 is excluded.

WHO VOTED ACROBAT? Damn you.

Anyway, Axver: Porcupine Tree or Dream Theater?

Porcupine Tree.

Let's just say that the last month, Dream Theater played 5 gigs in Australia and I only went to the Melbourne one, while Porcupine Tree are coming here for three gigs in April and I'm going to all of them.

Ultraviolet. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'll probably vote for The Fly next. I love it, but I think I love Acrobat and Love Is Blindness more.

"It's German for 'the Ultra Violet, the'."

Reminds me of a Simpson's episode. "Die Bart Die" tattooed on Sideshow Bob's chest, wasn't it? And he explained it away "The Bart, The".

What an awesome band. Wish they played around here.

Anyway, Ultraviolet, finally.

Yep, that's what I was referencing.

"Nobody who speaks German could possibly be evil!"

 Yep, you got it.

"No one who speaks German can possibly be evil."

EDIT: No way, we both wrote the same quote at the same time! :hi5:

I never thought they'd come to Australia. I'm still absolutely delighted that they are, and since I don't know if they'll ever come back, I'll take this opportunity to see all three shows, especially as their recent setlists have been mindblowingly good. The Sky Moves Sideways! Waiting! Dark Matter!

I hope they come to your part of the world sometime soon.

As for the posts re: The Fly winning or not, I personally want Acrobat to win. I view The Fly and LIB as just about level, a shade below Acrobat in terms of quality.

I think Acrobat's biggest competition will be The Fly. Everyone who is for Acrobat OR Love Is Blindness should pile on the votes to The Fly next round.

Irvine recently used an excellent Simpsons quote in FYM:

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm.
Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.

I think LIB's clearly going to get more votes though. It was a strong third in the last round. As much as it pains me, I'll likely be voting LIB next round.

I'm voting for The Fly before Acrobat. The mixing on the album is shit from halfway through the solo to the end.

Oh, that's one of my absolute favourites. :lmao:

Though I think this is the best of the best (it really requires the scene to work; the text only conveys part of the hilarity):

Homer: Mmmm ... 64 slices of American cheese. 64! 63! ... *fast forward to morning* ... twwwooo ... oooonnne ...
Marge: Homer, did you stay up all night eating cheese?
Homer: I think I'm blind.

The best Simpsons moment of all time is either the meat factory video in Lisa The Vegetarian or when Homer was on Rock Bottom in Homer: Badman. Either one is the height of comedic brilliance.

Burns: "Smithers, I've designed a new plane. I call it the "Spruce Moose", and it will carry two hundred passengers from New York's Idlewild Airport to the Belgian Congo in seventeen minutes!"
Smithers: "That's quite a nice model, sir."
Burns: "Model?"

...later on....

Burns: "Smithers, I don't want that unpredictable lunatic working in my casino."
Smithers: "Fine, we'll transfer him to the nuclear plant, sir."
Burns: "Aw, my beloved plant. How I miss her -- bah! To hell with this. Get my razors! Draw a bath! Get these kleenex boxes off my feet."
Smithers: "Certainly, sir. And, uh, the jars of urine?"
Burns: "Oh, we'll hang onto those. Now, to the plant! We'll take the Spruce Moose. [picks up the model] Hop in!"
Smithers: "But, sir --"
Burns: [pointing a gun] "I said, hop in."
