I have noticed U2 recycle some of their lyrics.

For example "Dream out loud" I've heard on has been used in Acrobat, Zooropa and Always.

Are there anymore lyrics that U2 have used in more than one song?

ONE

Shine like stars (which U2 didn't write...ah nevermind...)

I didn't mean in the same song. I meant different songs.

U2 constantly repeat the lyrics in many of their songs. So do many other artist, hence the invention of a chorus.

"Slipstream" is used in Luminous Times and Zooropa.

Also "Zoo Station".

"What you leave behind you don't miss anyway". Gone
Used again for the album title "ATYCLB" and in Walk On,"Leave it behind
You've got to leave it behind".

"You can hold onto something so tight
You've already lost it", Dirty Day.
"you're holding on to every little thing so tightly till there's nothing left for you anyway", Gone.

Colors.

Bono uses the word "colors" in a few different songs and they always seem to apply to a spiritual theme.

Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Playboy Mansion
Beautiful Day

It seems like there are others but I can't think of them right now. Any others?

The word "Stoney" is used in both Beautiful Day and Stuck in a Moment in reference to the ground (Stoney ground & Stoney Pass)Plus they are back to back songs on the album.

So, who actually is credited with the "Shine like Stars in the winter night..."

"You gotta put the women and children first, but you've got an unquenchable thirst for New York..."

some themes/words/imagery:

dreams
rain
love
running
parents
god

that's just a few of 'em. it actually might be interesting to go through all their albums and see what's been used more than once, both themes and words and stuff

falling stars is an image that pops up a few times in their songs, like The Fly and One Tree Hill

And in "In a little while" is the same meaning but in different words "stars that dying in the night"
