Question about Lovetown tour

I noticed on atu2.com that 27 October 1988 was the date of the world premiere of the movie in Dublin. (and so obviously the album came out too)

But the tour started in September 1989. How come the break was so long?

Was this around the time of Adam's court problems because of his drug problems.
And they were't able to obtain a Visa for him to get to australia, and they had to wait?...could be wrong...thats a guess.
