How can I get a copy of it?Anybody! Please!
I'm not sure... I don't really have a way of sending it to you. I'll look on the (few) FTP sites I know of, to see if they have it. Or maybe I should just upload it to Sicy's site.... there's a thought.....

P.S - the song is actually called "The Magic Carpet"

I have demo version and live version. I will upload to Sicy's site.

ok, I'm uploading two things.
Studio Boots - Shadows
Studio Boots - Contract

Each has a version of The Magic Carpet (as well as other Gems)

Sicy, - suggestion/question - can you open up the upstream bandwidth? It's gunna be uploading all fricken day. :)

I'm fairly sure you don't already have these.....

just to let anyone know in case they ever come across it, just as tip top prince mentioned it's called "magic carpet," it also goes by the name "lost on a silent planet." some of the earlier U2 songs go by a couple names. :D

These are the lyrics that I could make out from the contract demos version of Life On A Distant Planet (Magic Carpet) I really like this song, it's pretty cool.

Judith?
Judith?
Can you hear me?
Can you see me?

Life on a distant planet
Another atmosphere
Life on a distant planet
So cold inside of here
You can see her
But she can't see you
You can call her name
But she wont be able to hear you

In the morning
All through the day
To the evening
........???

Lost on a silent planet
So...................?
Left on a silent planet
So close and yet so far
Children scream and shout
Their eyes fall out
Judith turns around
And stumbles to the ground

In the morning
All through the day
To the evening time
Day in and day out??

Ohh ohhh
Can you come out?
Ohh ohhh
Can you come out to play
Have you nothing to say
Can you come out to play
Have you nothing to say

La La La La La

In the morning
All through the day time
To the evening
?????????????

I uploaded basically the same thing of two different qualities. The live version of Magic Carpet is in the stuff I'm uploading now. 3CD compilation. Check them out. There's a ripping version of Wire (demo?) amongst other GEMS.

As is the case, I guess with early stuff/demos, (Achtung Beibi anyone?), the song titles are often open to interpretation.

Judith/Life on a Silent Planet are in the lyrics, so that would be a reasonable guess.

In the live version, during the Bass Intro, Bono says "The Magic Carpet, yeah?" - implying to me, that he is confirming which song is next. *shrug*.

No biggie I guess, it's a cool song. Especially when Bono says "Thank You" after a neat/cool Edge vocal harmony. :)
