they don't allow it in or whatever, will they
a) Confiscate it (which is no big deal if it's a disposable) or
b) Not let me in (which would be devistating)

Which are they more likely to do? I wouldn't want to chance bringing one in if there was a chance they wouldn't let me in. Any experiences with this?

C) let you in with the camera!

To elaborate, in Chicago, security said that cameras are fine as long as it does not have a professional lens. How long a lens has to be to be considered professional, I don't know.

I have a 500 digital camera. I need to know if its allowed, I mean of course I will try to hide it but with metal detectors at MSG they will get it. What will they do???

This is all I was able to find about new security procedures at the Garden:

UPDATED MSG SECURITY PROCEDURES
Madison Square Garden's first priority has always been the safety of our fans
and employees. While it is company policy not to disclose specific security
measures, we will make an exception to say that we have increased security
for all Madison Square Garden events.

The following Madison Square Garden security procedures were updated on
October 17, 2001:

Packages, briefcases, knapsacks, cameras and video equipment will not be
allowed in the arena.
All patrons will continue to go through a screening process upon entry.
As delays are expected, Madison Square Garden requests that for all events,
ticket holders arrive as early as possible

To accommodate early arrivals, door for all Rangers and Knicks games will
open 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start time

Not sure how accurate as it was sent specifically for the Ranger & Knick games.

I'm not sure either, but I've tried a couple of times to call guest relations at MSG to find out security policy concerning the GA line and if cameras were allowed. I haven't gotten through yet. I know on the prop ticket it said no cameras, etc., but I guess we'll just have to see. I'm bringing one.

Yeah I would just take it with you... who knows... Bono may even grab it out of your hands and take pictures with it

And even if it doesn't meet requirements I seriously doubt they'd turn you away. Probably they'd resort to something else, like removal of batteries or hold it for you or something.

yes you can take a camera with you..... but most definately it can not have a professional lens on it. how do i know.... they tried to stop me from taking photos because of my lens. (I was using a 300mm zoom lens on a NikonN65.) Although, I do not consider myself as a professional; the security guys did. But we managed to talk our way out of it, and I got to keep taking photo's throughout the entire show.
this is what I managed to 'get' from being behind the stage in section 225. http://members-http-1.rwc1.sfba.home.net/lizawar/U2Chicago/U2ElevatedChicago.htm

Yes but I think procedures will be different for New York than for Chicago in light of recent events...don't ya think?

No, I'm wondering the same thing...There was no problem in Montreal but certainly security will be more tight in New York.
I checked out the MSG website but no info there either!

They're not gonna kick you out.
