Last weekend at our 'prom' (technically the after-party for whats formally called our 'junior-senior banquet') I had a U2 experience. lol. I'll explain: first the DJ played 'Vertigo', where most guys looked kind of dumb doing something weird..anyway I danced with this other girl who loves U2 and it was pretty cool. but the HIGHLIGHT was when i requested 'with or without you' with the hope of dancing with this one girl who ive been through lots of stuff with (i asked her to this prom, she said yes, then later rescinded..heh) and i did end up dancing with her, because we are great friends. It was so great, I could have stayed in that moment forever!...but now that song has a whole different meaning in my mind to me...ill never forget it!

just thought i'd share my story, has anyone else had stuff like this happen?

(i'd put it in zoo confessionals, but it has to do with U2, didnt want to get yelled at)

at my senior prom i was dancing with my girlfriend to with or without you, but she wouldnt stop yapping, so i said, be quiet, you're ruining the song

she didnt like that

haha nice^^ i could see a few people singing along with the song, heh heh, that was fun

My prom had a random band that played a 20 minute Gay Gordon, no U2 from what I can remember

I never went to any proms. I could've gone in my Junior and Senior years(02 and 03), but I didn't.

Going to a prom costs a lot of money(tux+dinner+extra) and can be a hassle, and I would only go if I had a girlfriend - I mean a real girlfriend - to go with. I didn't have one at the time. I still don't.

Even if I did have one - if she was the right person, I wouldn't need to go to a prom to have a special dance with her. If I had a girlfriend and she was the right one, I could dance with her in my living room or in a hole in the ground and it would be a special dance because it would be with her. I don't need a prom(and all that goes with it) - what essentially amounts to a big popularity contest - to make it special.

What can I say, I'm an introvert and would take 'order a pizza and rent a movie' over 'go out' ten out of ten times.

That almost uncannily resembles me.

Like Pla, we got crappy hip-hop/techno at my prom.

i wasn't a U2 fan when my prom happened. didn't own any of their CD's. i can't imagine not owning any U2 CD's now. Strange.
Although 6 months after the prom i got the 2 Best Of's for christmas and the rest is history!

Pizza beer and a bootleg. Would be the best date ever

No talking unless bono is giving a speech

We don't have "prom" in Canada. At least we didn't at my high school. Not sure if others in Canada have it.

We had a grad party, but it wasn't what you would consider a prom.

I can't remember if U2 was played or not. We went on a cruise around Vancouver, and there was a band and a DJ. It was a pretty good time.

You could buy a Delorean and a Flux Capacitor and take U2 back with you to your prom.

1.21 Jigawatts!

Well, I'm a sophomore so I haven't been to prom yet, but they played a grand total of two slow songs at homecoming this year. :tsk: Very disappointing. I mean..."Cotton Eyed Joe" beat out a slow song. I would have gone up to request a U2 song, but I wanted to keep my hearing capabilities by not getting closer to the speakers.

I'm a junior and am not planning on attending prom till next year, but at this year's homecoming and the other 2 I've been to, all they play is hip hop and rap and *shudders*. I mean, I'm sorry if anyone likes that type of music here, but I can't stand it. I was going to request a U2 song, but I don't have a lunch hour so I couldn't fill out a request. :hmm: Maybe I'll do that next year though. I'd say some good U2 would definitely make the music so much better!

Wooh! My 200th post! lol

Honestly, the biggest song around at the time of my prom was some "Wayne Wonder" bullshens. My best advice would be to take that few hundred dollars you had earmarked for prom and save it for your first month of college.

It's amazing how much you appreciate savings if you have to scrape together rent and grocery money each month

No U2 at my prom last year either.

I led a grassroots campaign to get 'In My Life' to be our senior song (if by grassroots I mean stealing a bunch of ballots and writing it in). I managed to get it one of the final five nominations but the class of 05 voted in '100 Years' by Five For Fighting instead

I hate Five For Fighting

If the the majority of the Seniors of the class of 05 in your high school think '100 Years' is better than a song that is arguably one of the top ten songs in the catalog of arguably one the best bands in history and inarguably the most influential band in history, then your entire school district has failed the goal of properly educating its youth. I realize I sound kind of like Lewis Black at the moment, but it's the goddamn truth. If this is how eighteen year-olds view music after going thirteen years in any given school system, uh, th-then that school system hasn't done it's job and...it-it's time to scrap the whole thing and start over again.

Stories like this are exactly why I respond to George W. Bush's assertion that public schools are this country's great hope by saying that we're all fucked.

Haha! Boy might have just come out when I was a senior, but I didn't go to any of my proms (it was a tiny school so we could go to prom from sophmore year on, but it wasn't my kind of thing).

And did anyone else see the title of this thread as "My U2 porn experience" or am I just a pervert? :shifty:
