Move me ...

A recent thread popped a question in my head. What songs move you? I mean songs that make you completely stop what you're doing, cause you to sing along, songs that make you close your eyes and feel it through you. Lately at work I've been having this happen alot. A few songs that come to my mind:

"In your eyes" - Peter Gabriel
"On the turning away" - Pink Floyd (took me forever to track down that song)
"End of the Innocence" - Don Henley

Not the greatest songs but for some reason while I was slaving away - the songs just affected me in ways that they'd never done before. What songs do that to you? I'm thinking about making a cd mix of songs like those. Other songs that pop in my mind are "strange desire" by INXS and "dance with you" by Live.

I'm almost sorry to say that U2 songs have never really done this to me. I think it's because I pay so much attention to the words of the songs and just not the wave length it puts out.

Some songs that move me:

All Apologies -- Sinead O' Conner (written by Nirvana)
These Arms Are Mine -- Otis Redding
Crazy Love -- Van Morrison
Suzanne -- Leonard Cohen
Thinking About You -- Radiohead
A Whiter Shade of Pale -- Annie Lennox (written by Procol Harum)
Behind That Locked Door -- George Harrison
Across The Universe -- The Beatles
Scared -- The Tragically Hip
The Humpty Dumpty Love Song -- Travis
Slide Away -- Michael Hutchence/Bono
The Path of Thorns (Terms) -- Sarah McLachlan
The Drugs Don't Work -- Ben Harper (written by The Verve)
Redemption Song -- Bob Marley
From The Morning -- Nick Drake
One Day -- The Verve
Hallelulah -- Jeff Buckley (written by Leonard Cohen)
North and South of the River -- U2
Yellow -- Coldplay

Wow, I should make that into one great album. Oh wait, I already did! (It's a great break-up album, but the problem is you can never listen to it again because it's far too painful!)

More recently, a song that really moves me is:

The Cedar Room -- Doves

Aarrrggghhh! Don't you hate when great songs are ruined by bad breakups!

Excellent choice! That song always makes me want to cry.
U2 songs that move me:

North and South of the River
One
Love Is Blindness
ASOH (and the whole UF album if you subtract Pride- not that it's a bad song, it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the album's vibe)

Those U2 versions of Can't Help Fallling In Love and Satellite Of Love. I can't stand it listening to these songs while wasting any part of my brain on something else.......
And Edge's solo in LIB. *shudders*
