BTw Go with PlaTheGreat , Larry wins by taking over Edge

That list is 99% male.

Kurt Cobain and Nirvana are one of the most overated artists/band ever. I'll always wonder WTF they did in the world to deserve so much attention and for being so praised...:|

Come on... With only few sucessful albums and tones and tones of publicity from MTV's, the press and the critics and they're kings and praised by legions of people that praises what? A legend? F-off!...
I'm not telling Nirvana was good, but they were not huge as many want them to be, and they didn't stand enough time to prove anything to the world's music... despite some want to believe in that...

This list is one of the reasons why Rolling Stone has very little credibility anymore.
You have Kurt Cobain infront of:
Jerry Garcia, Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana. YEAH RIGHT!!
David Gilmour, Randy Rhoads and Neil Young almost on the same level as JOAN JETT!! I will say that again-JOAN JETT!!
Gibson Girl, get in here now!!!

Jack White over the Edge??!!! For the love of god, you´re killing me now!!

JOAN JETT, but no Johnny Marr?

Well, sign me up!!!

Rolling Stone also had the Edge on the cover with 6 or 7 other legendary guitarists in the early 90s....and really thats a joke of a question.. Edge blows Cobain out of the water.

1. The Edge is a better guitar player, hands down.

2. The Rolling Stone list is beyond idiotic. I could go a long tangent about who should be on that list but I won't. Ike Turner is on the list, nothing more has to be said.

3. Nirvana is horribly overrated. Nothing about Nirvana seemed that creative when you look at Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins, two bands that came out of the same period. What did Nirvana create that did not already exist?

Okay, where is Slash?!?! Now I'm furious:mad: GN'R is the band that changed the damn new meaning of rock n' roll, and they aren't even my favorite band so I'm not just sticking up for them because of it......The rock n' roll media have no clue what they are talking about:madspit: ...

Honestly, I wouldn't even have put Eric Clapton up at #4. All he can do anymore is copy old school blues guitarists.

In my opinion, Jack White is more overrated than Kurt Cobain.

But yeah, Edge is killin' either one of them

Jesus Christ , Holy Sweet Mother ...... We are in a bloody U2 board , which is supposed to be the biggest of u2 in the net , and there are are 4 bloody votes for that fellow who probably didn't even know what was a FLANGER

yaa wtf Kurt Cobain.....the edge...they're both amazing and Kurt is pretty sexy:wink:

but it's the edge dudes..THE FREAKING EDGE!!!!!!!!

You mean "was very sexy"

but if you meant "is" then....

Kurt sucked at guitar technically speaking but his creativity compensated for it and more.

He´s not even in my top 100 best guitarist ever list.

So for once, Interference is right by saying that Edge is a better guitarist than Cobain.

They didn't stand enough time because he died. They did more than a few successful albums - but (like u2) not all were particulary well recieved. And thats because they were different, that whole grunge thing was only just coming into the mainstream then. They must have been doing something right as they were bigger than pearl jam at the height of their fame. And they have quite similiar music.

edge , grunge guitarists are hard to figure and nirvana are way over rated.

I realize this is a U2 forum, so love for the edge is understandable. But why do we have to criticize harshly?
Kurt Cobain played his guitar decidedly simple. You can listen to some outtakes, or their first cd, and you'll realize he actually could solo. But, just like the Edge was revolutionary for getting away from power chords in punk and post-punk music, so too was Kurt revolutionary for reintroducing them to mainstream music.
Can we please get away from lame "He sucks, she sucks" comments?
