For those who dont know, Jeremy Clarkson presents a show in the UK called Top Gear, about all the latest and greatest in the world of cars. Congratulations Jeremy - boring.
Anyway, he also has a column in The Sun every saturday.
Now he has mentioned Bono and his poverty fight before, and it annoyed the hell out of me so much, that I e-mailed him, and told him exactly what Bono, and the band have done for causes over the last 20 years. It was a bloody long, and bloody good e-mail.

He didnt even bother to reply. Probably had a gearstick up his arse at the time or something.
Anyway, here's what the boring little prick had to say in todays edition...

"So, for one day only, Bonio, rock and rolls bespectacled conscience, is to produce the Today programme on Radio 4.
He says he wants to focus on world poverty and what might be done to help.
Well Mr Dog Biscuit, you could start by giving your fortune away".

God I hate this arrogant little shit with a passion. But I really cant be bothered to write another e-mail, just for him not to reply to.
But if any of you guys are feeling in an angry mood this morning, and want to vent it all at this 'mans' direction...then go to www.thesun.co.uk - you should find an e-mail for him on there.

I like Clarkson because he's an arrogant little shit, hey i also really like Bono as well, i wouldn't expect them to like each other if they lived on the same street.

I don't buy tabloid rags. There were similar criticisms from two Irish Times journalists a few years ago. Adam Clayton's comment at the time was something along the lines of, these are parochial opinions from people who don't understand the issues. The same applies to Clarkson's outbursts.

That's cool that you sent those e-mails Aardvark! I think that if he doesn't answer you, you should keep sending him both e-mails everyday. At least you will annoy the hell out of the poeple who works for him and maybe he'll know about it.

Clarkson typifies the worst kind of English cynicism. His brand of wit relies constantly on the put-down whether the subject be the styling of a car's rear end or the state of toilets in Budapest.

That said I've enjoyed watching him piss about in cars on TV from time to time.

The guy needs to realise his limitations and stop trying to be the font of all knowledge- that's Bonos job!

Well said!
I have just come back into work after the weekend and havent got a reply yet....we'll have to wait and see..:eyebrow:

We should all bombard him with emails.

I think he is an arrogant little tw*t with an ego too large for his tiny brain and have never liked his pompous attitude towards cars or any other topic he decides to cast his poorly informed opinions on.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who calls Bono 'Bonio' in what is meant at demeaning humour but comes across as a stupid overgrown schoolboy, wants ramming head first down the nearest toilet. IMHO of course

He and many other have made that ignorant statement one too many times. "Oh why doesn't Bono just give his life savings away" like Bono's money alone would put an end to the problems in Africa. The problem goes beyond money alone.

That's just stupid and one of my pet peeves when it comes to putting down Bono.

Dammit - I was hoping that Bono would be a star in a reasonably priced car. Or maybe the edge - he'd be cool racing around that track.

To anyone who's still interested in this - I have recieved a reply, but here's what I sent to them first of all...

To: Sun Letters
Subject: Jeremy Clarkson...

Dear Sir/Madam,

This isnt going to be a long e-mail, as I have sent an extremely long
one
before regarding the same columnist, but did not recieve a reply. I was
probably seen as an over-enthusiastic fan, sticking up one of his
favourite
artists.
I am refering to the lead singer of U2, Bono. Who is, once again, the
target
of ridicual by Mr Clarkson.
I can totally understand him not being a fan of the bands music. That's
fair
enough, everyone has different tastes. (I dont like Top Gear for
example) But to say what he has said, on two occasions now, that, "Bono
should give
away his fortune in order to help" and basically stop continuing to do
what
he's doing, is just ridiculous.
I read your paper every day, and have done so for many years, and you
yourselves have always done well in highlighting the problems in the
third
world, with regards to debt and aids etc..
During the Labour Party Conference in the summer, when Bono addressed
them
and the nation, your paper was in full support of him and his
persistence
with Gordon Brown and Tony Blair to make progression in the fight
against
aids in the third world.
So why let one of your columnists say something that makes a mockery
over
what is a VERY serious matter and contradicts the very newspaper's views

that he is writing for? This seems ridiculous to me.

In the last e-mail I sent, I wanted it to go straight to Mr Clarkson, so
he
could realise that perhaps he needs to do some homework on his subject,
before trying to tackle it, in order to get a quick laugh. He isn't a
funny
man. He knows a lot about cars, granted. But I think that 'Jeremy
Clarkson
Interviews' programme that went out on the BBC a little while ago, just
proves my point.
However, i'm not writing this in order to ridicule Mr Clarkson. That
would
be very childish.
I just want him to perhaps, take some time to check out exactly what U2,
and
yes in particular, Bono, have done to help many good causes, since Live
Aid
in 1985.
Obviously they are not going to give their ENTIRE fortune away. What on
earth would be the sense in that!?

Would Mr Clarkson do that if his favourite car manufacturer was on the
brink
of bankruptcy I think it highly unlikely.

The money that Bono and the band have donated to the various charities
that
they support, is more than most people can afford to give in a lifetime.
So
they have more than done their share. But unlike some, Bono continues to
do
so, even though he has done so much already. He is always on the backs
of
the major world leaders, making sure they know exactly what is going on
in
the third world and that the problems cannot simply be swept under the
carpet.

I'm not having a big dig at Mr Clarkson here. I do read his column every

week, and will continue to do so, but I would suggest that, in order for

your paper not to look as if it is being undermined or contradicted by
one
of its own columnists, that perhaps what he writes should be checked
before
going to print.

I will only keep on writing you see!

Thankyou for taking time to read this.

Yours

....And here is their reply. I suspected they would say what they do in the last paragraph. But hey-ho...Im glad I vented my anger anyway!

Dear Mr Reed

Thank you for your email.

We like to respond wherever we can to our readers' comments - whether
they are positive suggestions or criticisms - because the success of our
newspaper is based on listening to you.

Although we get many more letters of appreciation and praise from our
readers than complaints, you can be sure that important views such as
yours are taken seriously.

We constantly strive to give satisfaction and value, and I can assure
you that your viewpoint will be heard and discussed at the highest
level. Where appropriate it will be directed to the Head of Department
concerned for circulation among staff.

I hope you will feel that your letter and the views it contains has been
read carefully and its contents acted upon.

Please feel free to write on any subject to myself, or to the Editor,
since your opinions form a valuable part of the policy-making and
continued success of The Sun.

Columnists are given freedom on this paper to express their own views,
and these don't have to coincide with the general view of the paper.
Often, columnists are employed for precisely that reason - to give
readers a wider breadth of opinion. I will pass your letter to Jeremy
for his consideration also.

Best wishes.

Yours sincerely

Kay Cox

The Sun sucks ass!! It's full of tits, and jeremy clarkson is the biggest one in it!!
I've had to suffer that pompous shitbag my whole life, and as if being less interesting than tony blair isn't enough of a reason to hate him, then him picking on bono is definately a good reason to run over the dickweed with a ferrari!!
