So I've known about this "Stay" B-Side and duet with Frank Sinatra for a while now, but I never actually took the time to download and listen to it until just the other day.

But I'm glad I did. A very interesting song.

Anyone else like it?

"He had lived through an age when men and women with energy and ruthlessness but without much ability or persistence excelled. And even though most of them had gone under, their ignorance had confused Roy, making him wonder whether the things he had striven to learn, and thought of as 'culture,' were irrelevant. Everything was supposed to be the same: commercials, Beethoven's late quartets, pop records, shopfronts, Freud, multi-coloured hair. Greatness, comparison, value, depth: gone, gone, gone. Anything could give some pleasure; he saw that. But not everything provided the sustenance of a deeper understanding." - Hanif Kureishi, Love in a Blue Time

I like that song too! The story of Bono recording his part of the duet is great- it's in the Flanagan book. There's also an amusing tale of making the video and how Frank refused to lip synch to the song. Not to mention the tale of when Bono went to Frank's house!

what is bono driving in that video-that convertible that's in a couple of scenes?
was it a 3 series BMW or is it a mercedes, or something else entirely?
(it's part of a bet)

bottom line: U2 rules.
