Accprding to the article below, American radio stations have been pulling SBS from their playlists, in light of last tuesday's attacks. Is this neccessary?

Personally, I cannot WAIT to hear this song live in NEW YORK CITY this fall. it has taken on a completely new meaning for me, as it has for many other Americans, i'm sure. I am also anticipating an intense verison of "Bullet the Blue Sky" when U2 returns to the States. "Peace on Earth" would also be very appreciated.

oops- here's the article:

Clear Channel Removes Songs From Station Playlists
Radio Undercover, September 17, 2001

Paul Cashmere

American radio network Clear Channel has removed songs by The Beatles, Elton John, Queen and U2 from their playlist after last Tuesday's World Trade Center attack.

Songs considered "lyrically questionable" by Clear Channel programmers include The Beatles "A Day In The Life," Elton John's "Rocket Man," Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" and U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday."

Clear Channel are the world's largest radio network and have recommended 150 songs be withdrawn from their radio network playlists.

Also on the list, The Bangles "Walk Like An Egyptian," Jerry Lee Lewis "Great Balls Of Fire" and Kansas "Dust In The Wind" have been taken off the air.

Clear Channel own radio stations all over the world and control the Australian Radio Network with major ownership of stations MIX and WSFM in Sydney and MIXFM and GOLD FM in Melbourne.

I wouldn't trust this article - I've heard SBS on a ClearChannel station here (SF area) and I've seen a few message boards in which DJ's deny that they've been told to take these songs off.

Sounds more like sensationalistic reporting than anything else.

Hi, Ally! Glad you're back safely. I know you were gone but there has been a lengthy discussion on this subject in the thread 'U2 song pulled from radio' which I just bumped if you want to read it!

I think SBS is more appropriate now than ever, and none of those songs should be banned. It's lame.

"Walk On, stay safe tonight"

In response to the question asked in the title.. NO!! unfortunately caps do not do the weight of my statement justice, so I am currently looking at the possibility of Supercaps for really important statements.

In other news, the list is not actually like a ban, it's just songs that have been recommended that not be played. Or so I read.

"Imagine" by John Lennon!?!?!?
This is the most appropriate song right now!

This is ridiculous.

I've heard several of these songs on the radio since the attack. Heck, I've even heard a remix of 'Imagine' with Bush's speech and news coverage spliced into it.

They'll go down on one knee
But they'll want their money back

And you're turning tricks
With your crucifix

What idiot suggested Lennons Imagine???
That song is about unity, you know all of us living as one.

Jesus Christ.

Exactly. and the US is preparing for war right? so any talk of unity and loving all humans would be inappropriate.
