I think you should be able to keep alters, if only because the vast majority of the alters around here are screaming funny.

I agree with pax... and a lot of people with alters have one main name they do 95% of their posting/browsing with. Maybe limit the number of alters a person can have though.
I didn't sit here and do some deep thinking on that so I'm sure it has its flaws.

I believe there was just one incidence.

It's true. I've been forced to do my own investigative work before...mostly on annoying W32/Klez worm e-mails that seem to emanate from one ISP. It's amazing what one can find out about a person simply on an IP address...

Melon

So true.....
all I need is an IP address... one clue... thats all that I need.
... and everyone uses IPs.

As far as alters....
I'd be willing to include alters ... either with a persons yearly/monthly fee, or as a small additional fee. for example (and this is only an example for now):

$12 annual fee for a single user
$1 annual fee for each additional 'alter', providing that alter is disclosed to myself as being connected to a fully paid account

Again.. these are ideas.... comments? suggestions?

I would pay

I may be one of the members that does not post often, but I'm here just about every day.
Even though I don't post I would still pay the $10.00 yearly membership fee.

I voted for the 3rd option, premium membership, the most reasonable IMO.

I have been regular here since the beginning of Feedback. Surely I would miss this place a lot if it was shut down. That´s the reason why I donated...and never regreted it.

THANK YOU Joel and all the mods that keep this place rocking!

Because most of the time I am lurking from work where I shouldn't be posting...not much time, but I sneak a peek here and there...and when I'm lurking from home, I'm chasing after a 3 yr. old and an almost 2 yr. old...so not much time to reply......

What about people who have already donated more than $10?

(I changed my avatar just for you, Sharky) I want to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Everyone has his or her own reasons, I suppose. Lurkers are cool. They never make harassing posts.

Yeah, that's a good question, too. I'm sure that for most people who have already donated, another ten bucks isn't a *huge* deal, but it does seem a bit unfair to folks who have already given (particularly if their donations have *well* exceeded ten dollars, and I know there are a few members who have been quite generous).

I was sort of wondering about that too. Dont' get me wrong, I really don't mind paying more, I'm just curious what the deal would be with people that already donated.

As I understand it, people who have already donated (more than $10) will not have to pay for the first year.

I'm undecided about this... I know there are a few people that have been OVERLY generous in their donations, and when I mentioned to them possibly giving them the premium acct w/o any additional donation most said that wasn't needed and that another $10 wasn't a big deal, and they'd actually donate more anyway. So... what to do? I'm not sure. I was thinking that if someone had donated recently, something above the yearly fee (to be announced), that if they requested that be put toward their fee - I'd do so - however, many of the donations, people have not included their forum name so I really have no idea who has made some of the donations.
