wow good choices!

i like the strokes

but what about FILTER?I love Filter & they should play 1 of those U2 songs

Really diverse artists, I like. I just can't imagine the Strokes doing anything U2 though maybe Aerosmith could do Desire.

Filter are the guys that sung that song "do you want to take my picture"

They're one of the best hard rock bands around, and their lead singer is a huge U2 fan. He said their last album was even modeled as an Unforgettable Fire type of album.

Great choices on that list. Some of the best bands around. A couple of other suggestions:

SBS - Pete Yorn
Gone - Depeche Mode
I Will Follow - Collective Soul (they've already covered it)
God Part 2 - POD or Rage Against The Machine

Change is the only constant

I always thought Pearl Jam could potentially do an amazing "Out of Control." Can't you just hear Eddie Vedder's vocals screaming "Monday morning, 18 years of dawning..."

I always figured Elton for a cool version of Running to Stand Still

------------------
"You gotta love living, baby, 'cause dyin's a pain in the ass."-- Frank Sinatra

Adam: Look guys, I got a Springfield spoon for my spoon collection.
Edge: Oh boy, here we go...
Bono: Wow, how many is that now Adam?
Adam: Nine. If I didn't have my spoons, I'd go insane.
Bono: Can I see it?
*adam gives bono the spoon, bono throws it away*
Adam: My spoon!

fantastic list!
Why not a tribute concert with all those artists in Slane Castle?

"Lemon" - Tom Waits
"Wake up Deadman" - Nick Cave

~z~

------------------
" You love this town - even if that doesn't ring true. You've been all over, and it's been all over you " - Bono

" Don't you know there ain't no Devil, that's just God when he's drunk " - Tom Waits

A lot of these are nicked from other people because they would work so well.

One- REM
I Will Follow- Collective Soul
Staring at the Sun- Oasis
Party Girl- Blur
The Fly- Metallica
Beautiful Day- Stereophonics
Bad- Radiohead
Stuck in a Moment- Garth Brooks(don't kill me)
With or Without You- PJ Harvey
Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car- Garbage
The Unforgettable Fire- Sting
Van Diemen's Land- Pete Townshend
Please- Elvis Costello
Zoo Station- Nine Inch Nails
New Year's Day- Tom Petty
All I Want is You- The Corrs
Wake Up Dead Man- Nick Cave
Discotheque- Mick Jagger
Drowning Man- Travis
Out of Control- Pearl Jam
Desire- Train
Stay- Billy Corgan and Scott Weiland
Sweetest Thing- No Doubt
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me- silverchair
One Tree Hill- Wyclef Jean
Salome- Robert Plant
MLK- George Michael
Silver and Gold- Bruce Springsteen
Fire- POD
Where the Streets Have No Name- Counting Crows
It's a shame Jeff Buckley died... can you imagine Running to Stand Still?

------------------
And you brighten my life like a polystyrene hat
But it melts in the sun like a life without love
And I've waited for you so i'll keep holding onWithout you

I think that Rock groups that have had songs covered by U2 should return the favor by reuniting and covering U2 songs.

For instance,
ABBA could do "With Or Without You"
The Monkees could do "Spanish Eyes" or "Lemon"

Good topic: Here's a few off the top of my head.

Lemon: David Bowie
Desire: Nelly Furtado
Discotheque: Radiohead
Where the Streets Have No Name: Sheryl Crow
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me: Van Halen
One: Johnny Cash (from the American III recording)
The Wanderer: U2 doing their own version, having Bono cover Johnny Cash
Staring at the Sun: Jewel
Pride: Bruce Springsteen
Bad: Elton John
Mysterious Ways: Soggy Bottom Boys (hee-hah!)

At the moment, i couldn't fill an album, but a few suggestions...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday - Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood (Edge style from PopMart)
Exit & Loves Comes Tumbling - Pearl Jam
Stuck in a Moment - Oasis
Discotheque - Depeche Mode

These would be AWESOME!!! I am a dreamer.

Peace.

i dunno....maybe its just me.....but i cant imaine anyone else singing u2!ESPECIALLY not One or WOWY..or....anything!sorry for being so not creative and imaginative
frown.gif
but even though i love Bruce Springsteen, and a whole load of other artists, i just cant imagine a U2 song being sung without Bono on vocals(and occasional guitar!), edge on guitar, adam on...well you get the picture!

altough, hang on,i think i could def deal with Jeff Buckley on Running to stand still(what an amazing voice)maybe oasis on something,bruce....maybe.
