It all started by looking at the charts online at Billboard.com...

I went to the "10 years ago chart rewind" and there I see Achtung Baby making its debut at #1 in the US albums chart. I was still a kid then, just over 12, but thanks to my bro I was a U2 fan even then. Then all the memories came back, waiting to watch on TV the premiere of "The Fly" video, waiting on the line to buy the album and all that. But most of all what came back to my memory was a whole ten years that this album (the best one ever IMO) has kept me company in good and in bad times. Thanks a lot guys!!

Andy

Here is the chart:

That list kinda scared me

OMIGOD look at the rest of the chart! There is some frightening stuff there, and funny how half those people aren't around anymore. Mind u, look at the charts now and then again in ten years... I don't think it will seem all that much different.

I have to agree with you voxson- Achtung Baby is in my opinion as well, probably their best work. It is an amazing album musically and lyrically. I don't think Bono will ever top those lyrics. I remember that era and the ZooTV days like it was yesterday. Man! the Fly ws cool.

I don't think I have anything to be ashamed of but let's see...

(1) Achtung Baby, U2
(4) Nevermind, Nirvana
(6) Use Your Illusion II, Guns N Roses
(8) We Can t Dance, Genesis (Oh dear...)
(11) Use Your Illusion I, Guns N Roses
(27) Blue Light, Red Light, Harry Connick, Jr.
(41) Extreme II Pornograffitti, Extreme (Ok, now I may be embarrassed...)
(43) Out Of Time, R.E.M.
(66) Shake Your Money Maker, The Black Crowes
(72) The Immaculate Collection, Madonna
(87) Live Baby Live, INXS

Not too bad I suppose. Let's just say that Genesis, Extreme and The Black Crowes no longer exist in my house, but I have kept the G'N'R CD's for simply memories... Can't say I'd ever listen to them again though.

I still have GnR's Use Your Illusion I, but the only song I listen to is "November Rain"...however, I admit to having only that song in my car CD player for over a week and just repeating that song over and over again. I still adore that song.
