I Walk The Line Tribute Show

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
as long as it's not that absolutely terrible version of Don't Take Your Guns To Town from the Elevation single

this is what it says in ew.com, doesn't say what song they're doing

YEP, WE'RE 'CASH'-ING IN

8-9PM

I Walk the Line: A Night for Johnny Cash (CBS) As part of tonight's Johnny Cash tribute/plug for Walk the Line, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon introduce performances from superstars like U2, Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, and Norah Jones — all of whom have about as much Nashville cred as a pair of Vans. The real highlights here? Kris Kristofferson, who rode alongside Cash in country superband the Highwaymen, and honky-tonk hardliner Dwight Yoakam. Raise a glass.

entertainment weekly is for the birds, man.

U2 doesn't have any Nashvill cred... sure, fine...

but they are the most deserving of this slot besides kristofferson, having personally recorded with Cash. And Cash having recorded one of their biggest hits.

All Dwight Yoakam has in common is music genre.

I hope that this gets recorded and shared!!!

They all wear black: U2, Green Day, Coldplay, NIN, etc etc.

Johnny reminds us why.

Man in Black
Johnny Cash
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

I would think U2 has a lot of "Nashville Cred"

They are very good friends with The Judds, among many others.

The only problem I see with this show being on tonight is that it will be on at the same time as "Lost". What to do?

Nashville turned it's back on Cash in the 80's and 90's.

Their biggest star ever, and no county stations, in or out of Nashville would play his records.

But Cash got the last laugh.

Fuck Nashville.

That's the best cover U2 has ever done!

I do hope you're being sarcastic.

I think you are.

But I'm not completely sure.

I'm not really a fan of it either, but it was the best thing on that single!

Give me the Mexico City Last Night On Earth any day

I have to come and see what time the boys are on the air ... this West coaster can't bear to miss too much of "America's Next Top Model" waiting for U2.

same here :)

it's actually to not have to hit record and then rewind when I was wrong (in order to not miss the start) everytime!

I'm getting psyched... I wonder if Bono will try to sound like johnny cash (like that version of goldeneye where he sings it)

spoiler alert

it's The Wanderer. Just saw a clip on the TV guide channel.

Sheryl Crow hasn't been good in almost a decade. This is the worst cover of Ring Of Fire imaginable.

They should have got Coldplay to do it like they have been on their tour, and I'm not just saying it cause I'm biased.

Sheryl Crow sucks
