I think its the fad to sound like U2 right now

I don't think it's a fad, it's just reality.

U2 have done so many genres that of course they are going to have a lot of influence. As far as I'm concerned, I've never been a fan of power chords too much or cheesy solos, so I think it's great other bands use U2esque guitar work.

post-punk isn't popular nowadays with young or newly formed bands... it's prerogative of oldies  :)

to The Killers I can add All American Rejects.

u2 are getting to the age where a lot of young rock bands grew up on them. So it's just kind of natural, imo, to sound like the band you grew up with and loved.

If I was in a rock band, I'm betting my band would sound like u2. and i wouldnt have even tried to sound like bono or edge, it would just happen.

Did someone mention Talk? The guitar riffs are indeed very U2-sounding, but for some reason that intro, it's a note-for-note copy of a NIN song.

Talk is Computer Love by Kraftwerk with an Edge flair to it....not a bad song just really a ripoff.

People would never admit to wanting to use the U2 sound though and their fans certainly wont admit to it either.
