Ooh, midnight sales, that would be so cool. I've always wanted to go to one and get the little giveaways they have (like the votive holders given out with Madonna's "Ray of Light") but there's never been a store close enough doing one of those. Maybe it will happen with HTDAAB this year (fingers crossed).

I'm in the U.S., and I actually get on a plane for Europe the evening of the 23rd after being at work all day. So, I'm hoping I can pick up the CD the Friday beforehand, like I did with ATYCLB, through my source so I can get that initial rush fully out of my system over the weekend. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to pack my portable CD player and a lot of extra batteries, buy it on the way into work on the 23rd and play the hell out of it on the flight to London instead of sleeping and be really jet lagged the next day.

Allow me to tell my story of when ATYCLB was released:

I am a farmer, first of all. October 31 was in the middle of fall harvest. So on my way to the field, I drove through town, stopped at a local music store and bought it at 9 in the morning. Then, I was in a tractor ALL DAY until about 9 in the evening without a CD player. It was the most hellish day imaginable. I must've read the entire booklet 30 times that day. But when I finally got home that night, I was in heaven.

November 23 will be at the end of harvest, I predict. So I will once again be in a tractor/combine/semi all day, staring at the case, reading the lyrics, wondering how the songs go. I don't plan to hear any of the album before it's release, other than Veritgo.

Too bad U2 isn't a cultural phenomenon (though it should be.) Then places could throw U2 parties like the Harry Potter parties.

How can you not buy it at midnight? How would you be able to sleep knowing that you can buy the U2 cd? The last 5 cd's U2 has released I have gone to the midnight sales,(including the best of's) . Screw sleep, and listen to U2

Salome and I will be making a very early trip into the shops on the Friday if it is released then like most albums seem to be, the Friday before the release date.

I will even set the alarm for this.

I won 3 copies of Pop from the radio. I remember those days. I was trying to win tickets to a U2 show at some casino in Las Vegas and by the 4th time I got through, the DJ said congrats on getting through, we'll give you a copy of Pop. I was like "dude, for gods sake this is the 4th entry Ive made, please give me something else, I'm running out of friends and family to pass these on to" lol. The girl who won those tickets was really uninterested
