i've always wondered about that too. but i think it comes to show that despite the times we make the mistakes ( "she won't catch me or break my fall" , i interpret that as she's letting him learn from his mistakes) we need to learn from them and we continue to love the one, that also continues to love us, despite those faults or blunders we make. that's why she is the sweetest thing, love makes it all sweeter.
