I have a question about Propaganda.........

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.

I know we talked about this before, about the new issue but......
*You can't subscribe to Propaganda now(anyone know why???)
*at 'atU2.com', they had a snippet of information....someone at Propaganda said no new memberships were being accepted "per U2's request"
What does all this mean??
Whenever the new issue comes, it will be my first, so I don't know procedure.
If you'd like, I can link to the article at 'atU2.com'......
If anyone knows anything............
Thanks

I have been wondering about Propaganda too. It's been since the tour started I guess since we all received the last issue.

I want my propaganda!

I registered last July, so I am new to the ways of Propaganda, but if you look at past issues... this is the longest they've gone without an issue.
During Popmart they had three issues published, surely with the 'Elevation Tour' and everything that the band has been up to, there would be plenty to write about.

I want a PROPAGANDA!!!

ok, I just send an e-mail to their european office. Let?s hope for the best

according to their web site, which says(as of 02*18) that a new issue should go to print in 3-4 weeks, this new issue should be printed this week or it was last week.

<i don't think i could have written that sentence in a more confusing manner

Well I know that a friend of mine from Spain got an email from the same person as above, (CC), saying that they were not accepting any new memberships. Although the email did not specify it was as per the band's request.

Possibly that U2 want the benfits of Propaganda to remain like they always have been. For example... due to such high demand, so many people weren't able to get tickets through Propaganda for the third leg. Could perhaps be because everyone is starting to know about this service, and Propaganda wants to keep the membership to a manageable minimum. To keep all it's members happy?

I am grasping here....

It is possible they are just saying that -- the "by the band's request." Not sure of the intention, but really -- what on earth kind of reason would they have to *request* to stop memberships? (Assuming the rumours of the band breaking up are indeed not true..)

Well, like I said, his email did not
contain the phrase "by the band's request"

so one person said it was 'per the bands request' and someone else didn't mention that?

i think we are nitpicking over some small details here. for whatever reason they are not accepting new members at the moment, maybe they don't do so when a new issue is being mailed out. and on that note it does appear that a new issue is about to be, or already has, been mailed perhaps.

we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

Angel I was thinking about this, came back here and you had already written what I concluded! This makes a LOT of sense to me.

Well, if they do have a freeze on new registrations I hope they use the time to look over their current registration list and get rid of the duplicates. I know a number of people were doing that using different credit cards so they could get more tickets.
frown.gif

They might also be trying to figure out what to about the ticket offer now that it's gotten so out of hand. It's a shame that some fans can't get tickets because others got greedy.
frown.gif
Even worse are the people who weren't even fans but subscribed multiple times and had family and friends do the same just so they could make a buck scalping.

I just hope that they don't do away with the ticket offer entirely.

OK, this is my second email from someone at Propaganda..............

Propaganda is under review at present, but no final decisions have been made. If Propaganda were to close, you
would be refunded for the remaining issues on your susbcription.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, here's an email I got from CC:

it does
close, you will be refunded whatever money is owed.

Subject: Propaganda subscription

Hi,
I've read some rumors on the net that the next Propaganda issue will be
the last one.
I subscribed in late 2000 and have only received one issue, does this
mean I'll be only getting
2 issues out the 4 I was promised?
I feel that I got my money worth just by being able to buy concert
tickets through Propaganda
(Thank You again!)
but I'd just like to know what to expect.
Thanks for your time, have a Beautiful day!
Mariana
