I prefer it to Elevation and would almost put it on the level of ZooTV. I'll await seeing the Vertigo DVD before I pronounce judgement on that one.

well, i guess it would be:

elevation = popmart

but not ZooTv, nothing tops that
(unless the vertigo dvd does, but i dont think it will)

I love the first part of PopMart Mexico, but it loses some steam, and I always end up wandering away from the TV when I watch it.

And that version of Pride is the worst I've ever heard. Bono doesn't even come close to the high notes on the chorus.

But God, give me the Pop Muzik/Mofo intro any day.

hey! Mexico kicks Santiago's ass... I mean, about U2 concerts

seriously, Mexico City is a great concert to watch it again and again... and I was too young to live and see it

Pop Muzik --> New Years Day is
Pride --> All I Want is You is :|
Desire --> Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet the Blue Sky --> Wake Up Dead Man

Inother words a great concert which dips a bit in the middle.

Popmart was big, really big. It´s probably a grandiousness that many are getting just too late. I remember how much this tour was criticized, but the same critizers must now admit that it was a fantastic tour, and yes, it realle kicked the ass!
I always felt Elevation actually as one of their weakest tour, maybe because bono had much more problem with the voice. Vertigo is definitely one of the best things they´ve done in the last 15 years

In my opinion:
1 Vertigo/Popmart
2 Zoo Tv
3 Elevation

PopMart Mexico is my second favorite U2 concert !!
The whole concept of that 'incredible' stage screen is one of the most 'spectacular' shows ever in my book.

My first favorite 'IS and will ALWAYS BE' Red Rocks !! :applaud:
Gotta love something about when they were so-ooo young and just starting out successfully ... plus all the 'kidding around onstage' is something that is NOT seen that much anymore.

I think the concert video suffers a bit as well because the staging was SO frickin' huge, that it loses a LOT when translating to a small screen.

I couldn´t agree more my friend

Santiago 11-02-1998 simply blow Mexico 1997 away. Far more intense, more honest, more poingnant, more dinamic, more U2. Bono´s voice was awful in Mexico, beautiful in Santiago. Also the Chilean crowd was far more energetic and enthusiastic.

Mothers Of The Dissapeared was done pretty boring in Argentina. Bono didn´t know how to sing it, so he started in the low key and then he sang the other verses in the high key  . Also the Mothers Of Argentina didn´t do anything. On The contrary, the Santiago version was by far the best ever rendition of the song (even better than Joshua Tree ones), with Bono singing it in the high key all the time  and with a poingnant participation of the Chilean Mothers Of The Dissapeared.

I Hope someday they´ll release the mistake they did when they decided to go with Pop Mart Mexico, and release Santiago 1998 DVD   :bump:

for some reason many bands record their concerts in Mexico and release them as VHS/DVD

why? because we rock
