All That You Can't Leave Behind, my version
1) Beautiful Day
2) Stuck In A Moment
3) Elevation
4) Walk On
I think those four songs, conceptually speaking, go together real well. Losing everything in the first song, then trying to take that feeling and relay it to someone in the 2nd song, then the 3rd song could be from the point of view of the character in Stuck, desperately seeking to rise above the darkness, then Walk On would be the definitive closing chapter of that, just surviving and all and appreciating life.
I would discard Kite (yea I know everyone loves it, but for me it doesn't do anything) So from Kite I would go into
5) In A Little While - Kind of like the intermission track, but it could also make sense in context
6) Are You Gonna Wait Forever - this song would bust thru and give the 2nd half of the album a rocking start
7) Big Girls Are Best - continues the rocking flow.
Totally trashcan Wild Honey, as it's a mediocre Van Morrison song at best.
8) New York - another rocking song that would chronicle the many lives of people inhabiting the Big Apple. We were referring to other people in the previous song, and this song would continue that theme.
9) Peace On Earth - after the turmoil of New York, this song would mourn humanity's loss everywhere, from New York to Dublin
10) When I Look At The World - The main character is now losing his faith somewhat, or maybe it's the character from Stuck being envious of the optimistic voice from Beautiful Day
11) Grace - would just sum up the album. It's some unseen force that can still make this fucked up world seem beautiful at times.
