My buddy Maila just started listening to the Beatles, and is falling in love with them...and me too, since I gave her "Let It Be" lol

so I convinced her to give U2 a good shot, cuz she loves my taste in music. I'm gonna make a mix for her.

so this is where you guys help. I'm looking for a good tracklist that would addict her to our band, and get her to buy the records. SOOOO any suggestions? I'm looking around 15 songs max.

AND DON'T JUST SAY ACTUNG BABY OR THE JOSHUA TREE lol

Hmmm, let's see.....

You'd HAVE to include:

I still haven't found what I'm looking for
One
All I want is you
Where the streets have no name
A sort of homecoming
Stay (faraway, so close!)
Running to stand still
Hearland
Lemon
With or without you
Whose gonna ride your wild horses
Mysterious ways
Numb
Bad
North and South of the River

Just get her to listen to these and she'll be a U2 convert in no time!

Hmm, i guess most would have to be hits to get her into them, but i'll have some more obscure stuff there too.

Where the Streets Have No Name
With or Without You
Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Years Day
Pride
The Unforgettable Fire
Bad
The Fly
One
Gloria
11 O'Clock Tick Tock
Stay
An Cat Dubh/Into the heart
in god's country
one tree hill
exit
until the end of the world
like a song
two hearts beat as one
walk on
beautiful day
vertigo
original of the species
city of blinding lights
zooropa
all i want is you

That should be enough

you should probably limit it to around fifteen songs:

Streets
I Will Follow
Beautiful Day
New Year's Day
One Tree Hill
With or Without You
Bad
Out of Control
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Gloria
Gone
Mysterious Ways
In a Little While
One
Stay
All I Want Is You

I'm doing the same with someone I know. I sent her One first, then Stuck In A Moment, and she loved them both. Then I sent her Even Better Than The Real Thing and she loved that too! I don't really know exactly her tastes and she's never mentioned liking rock but I'm easing her in gradually. And I told her Achtung Baby was my fave album ever, so she's interested in hearing the rest of it, and I'm sending her a song every night.

:D

This one I made for a friend of mine and she loved it immediately. She's only heard The Joshua Tree and The Unforgettable Fire.

Where the Streets Have No Name
Pride (In the Name of Love)
Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year's Day (Best of Edit)
Beautiful Day
City of Blinding Lights (Radio Edit)

October
Gloria
Angel of Harlem
MYSTERIOUS WAYS
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (The Temple Bar Mix)
Sometimes You Can't...
ONE
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
I Still Haven't Found...

*if she wanted more, I'd introduce more 90s material and more 00s material also, but this is a good start*

The following tracklist would probably fit on an 80 Minute CDR. make sure to put it in chronological order, so that the band's development is showcased:

wow you guys have a lot of good setlists...thanks

what about live tracks? the best live band in the world should have some bootlegs on there...I was thinking "Bad" from the Wide Awake In America, but it seemed a bit long (8 minutes) and idk if she would like it at first.

What are some exceptionally good live tracks of U2? one of my personal favorites is the "One" with the orchestra (what concert was this!!!) and the "Walk On" from London after 9/11...what are yours?

I love Last Night on Earth from Mexico and I Still Haven't Found from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Sunday Bloody Sunday from Sarajevo is f'ing amazing too

I also love poetry, Scotch, and my good friend Baxter

11 O'clock Tick Tock, Denver, 5 June 1983 (the Under A Blood Red Sky VIDEO)

Bad, Denver, 8 November 1987 (Rattle And Hum video - I know it's about 8:30 long, but I've sent it to non-fans and they've LOVED it)

One Tree Hill, Dublin, 26 December 1989 (Best live performance of any song ever)

This did the trick for my friend:

Disc 1:
The Fly
A Day Without Me (live)
Out of Control (live)
Tomorrow
Bad (live)
Running to Stand Still
All I Want Is You
Acrobat
Exit
Mothers of the Disappeared

Disc 2:
Numb
Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
The First Time
Please
If God Will Send His Angels (single version)
Slow Dancing
Hawkmoon 269
Gloria
October
'40'

It was kind of tailored to the music I know she'd enjoy, but it got her hooked instantly. :D
