Garbage, Cherry Lips and golden curls, and mp3s

When Garbage opened up for U2...

Does anyone have a setlist of what they sang? Or know of where I could get some mp3s of them live (from there...any one of the U2 concerts). In fact, same goes for No Doubt...

And can someone please explain what Cherry Lips is about....I think i know. I think it's obvious, but I just. It's odd to write a song about...what I think...???

At the Garbage show I went to I think Shirley said the song was about a friend of hers....don't know if that helps.

http://www.afn.org/~afn01455/

they have the first 2 or three shows from their opening slot with U2, pretty much the same setlist.

Garbage rules

Best songs- Vow, #1 Crush, and Cherry Lips

Much as I love V 2.0, I don't really like the songs on their own nearly as much as the first and third albums.

What do you mean? (On their own...?)

Cherry lips is stuck in my head....
#1 Crush scared me the first time I heard it.

I love "I'm only Happy WHen it Rains" and "Vow"

Thanks for the site!

As in I like taking in the album as a whole, but I don't really get into the songs when I hear them on the radio. Except Special. But I Think I'm Paranoid et al I have to hear in context of the album

Okaaaay.. the first time I ever heard it, Shirley introduced it as a song about her friend, who had a very, very messed up life. I got the song mostly figured out, but a couple weeks ago I was looking at a old magazine I got last fall, with Garbage on the cover with an interview, and I believe Shirley described what Cherry Lips was about. Unfortunately I don't have the magazine with me, but what I remember was that she was reading a book this guy wrote, and it was about his life -- he had a really (as she said) messed up life, and I believe he was gay as well. There were a lot more details, but I'll have to type it up later when I have the magazine.

I always thought "Cherry Lips" was about a transsexual/transvestite prostitute.

I'm being completely serious too....

That's actually the subject of Weezer's "Hash Pipe"

Many people I talk to seem to think so, and some lines to seem to point things in that direction.

Weezer
Hash Pipe

I can't help my feelings, I'll go out of my mind
These players come to get me 'cause they'd like my behind
I can't love my business if I can't get a trick

Down on Santa Monica where tricks are for kids

Oh, come on and kick me
Oh, come on and kick me
Come on and kick me
You've got your problems
I've got my ass wide
You've got your big G's
I've got my hash pipe

I can't help my boogies they get out of control
I know that you don't care but I want you to know
The knee-stocking flavor is a favorite treat
Of men that don't bother with the taste of a teat

Oh, come on and kick me
Oh, come on and kick me
Come on and kick me
You've got your problems
I've got my ass wide
You've got your big G's
I've got my hash pipe
I've got my hash pipe

Oh, come on and kick me
Oh, come on and kick me
Come on and kick me
You've got your problems
I've got my ass wide
You've got your big G's
I've got my hash pipe
I've got my hash pipe

I've got my hash pipe
I've got my hash pipe

That is what I thought it was about too. I'm not sure about the prostitute part, but I'm pretty sure about the transvestite part.

You're such a delicate boy
In the hysterical realm
Of an emotional landslide
In physical terms

With your cherry lips and golden curls
You could make grown men gasp
When you'd go walking past them
In your hot pants and high heels

They could not believe
That such a body was for real
It seemed like rainbows would appear
Whenever you came near the clouds would disappear
Because you looked just like a girl
Your baby blues would flash
And suddenly a spell was cast

"i was playing too hard" ;)

At one of the shows Lady Lemon and I went to Shirley dedicated it to two boys who lost their virginity to it.

*thinks of Dan shaking it during that song
