Thinking of the advances in concert technology in the 1990s and especially now in 2006 with what bands like Muse are capable of, I think U2 could tour Unforgettable Fire in a series of limited engagements.

Think about it - with all the modern live sequencing technology the band could finally present Unforgettable Fire live without most of the songs sucking balls. Throw in an encore of the U2 staples and this would be just awesome

Not to mention the stuff Willie could dream up in show design to match the great atmospherics of the album.

i'm not sure bono could handle many of the songs with his voice anymore.

Ya I could see him talking the lyrics to Wire, Neil Diamond style...I am cry :(

But amen to that Habs, that would pretty much rock.

he'l beable to do 4th of july no probs at all!

Now that was worth a

And bout it ....

Wouldn't complain in seeing Back : Wire , Sort of Homecoming and .......

UF

Nice thought. Ain't gonna happen, though. Bono can barely sing those songs now. The album is 22 years old. Pop is only 10.

He actually could sing Pride again in the last leg of Vertigo ....

And higher stuff like Chorus of UF , leave to Edge like in WITS

Why redo the Unforgettable Fire tour? As far as I'm concerned that was the best tour of them all. For the record, Elevation and Vertigo were a very close 2nd and 3rd.

Yeah - why the hell weren't they playing Promenade during the sunset hours of the European leg, with fireworks going off on the video screens :(

Plus they could have worked out a cross-promotional deal with Coca-Cola. ;)

i'd rather just listen to and watch dvd bootlegs of the tour.. when it mattered.

i wouldn't want to see a watered down version of it. the intensity of the songs and U2 at that time is what made it special.

it should not be recreated for nostalgic reasons.

Does the band even remember they recorded Promenade?

seriously, it's one of their most beautiful songs and I probably won't get tired of hearing it.

Yeah, and The Unforgettable Fire would be badass to see live again, it can and should happen.

Pass on both items in the thread title. UF and Zooropa are just better studio.

actually the uf dortmund concert that is floating around, is quite awesome.

Anyone who thinks UF, the song, is better in the studio clearly hasn't heard the 21 March 1985 performance.

U2 could do amazing things with the UF album live. It's a shame they seem to have forgotten it was more than 2 song EP.

A few years ago The Cure toured Europe with a "Trilogy" concert featuring every song (in order) from their 3 darkest albums: Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers. A full 3 hour concert. It was awesome.

Imagine if U2 could do a similar thing and tour Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby in their entirety

Those Cure gigs, awesome. Disintegration is one of my favorite non-U2 albums, not question...easily top 5. If U2 did that with those 3 albums it would be amazing. Just knowing we'd be getting Promenade, RHMT, and Acrobat live? Wow.

One of my first boot dvds.

Bad from that show = :combust:

I love/hate threads like this because we all know none of this is ever going to come to fruition....oh, but the thought of it. :)

If I ever heard A Sort of Homecoming live in concert, I'm not sure if I could even fucking take it, I'd be on overload.

What would the band clothes and haircuts be for this anniversary tour?

The mullet will make a comeback. As will the tight leather pants, much to the delight of the PLEBA crowd.

Anyone who thinks UF, the song, is better in the studio IS clearly NUTS

Every goddam version of it is out of this world , I always saw UF as one of the best live songs , sometimes competinh with Streets and all ....

-Larry's drummin loose
-Adam throwing some cool bass slides
-Bono's full passion chorus ....

And Edge's ORCHESTRA

Anyone who doubts the sounds Edge can take from his guitar , just the live solo of UF , and u'll understand it

P.S.: It's called e-Bow
