From the log-String sections

u2log.com is reporting that the band were in London to work with a string section on 3 tracks, but they scrapped them because it was crap. Apparently Edge said they were going to rework the songs from scratch.

Take it for what it's worth, go to u2log to check it out for yourself.

Well I hope the new album isn't overproduced...interesting that they went for some big orchestra songs though, hints at a grandiose sound for the next record or maybe these songs are for a future project...
