What is your favourite line off this record?
I think its some of Bonos best writting ever.

I kind of like this one right now "Some things you shouldnt get too good at like smiling, crying and celebrity"

Just rings very true for me.

I love the part where he says, "God I need you here tonight" in Miracle drug. Overall I really like a lot of the lyrics on this album.

By far theis line from Sometimes...

"Can - you - hear - me – when – I -
Sing, you’re the reason I sing
You’re the reason why the opera is in me… "

Beneath the noise, below the din,
I hear your voice, it's whispering
In science and in medicine,
"I was a stranger; you took me in."

- Miracle Drug

I like the sound of my own voice
I didn't give anyone else a choice
An intellectual tortoise ...

- All Because Of You

All of Crumbs From Your Table.

"The songs are in your eyes, I can see them when you smile" ~Miracle Drug

"How can I hurt when I'm holding you?"~A Man And A Woman

"Please stay a child, somewhere in your heart." ~Original

"You've seen the beauty inside of me
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me" ~COBL

"You deny to others what you demand for yourself..."~Crumb

I just LOVE the shouting during the solo on Miracle Drug. It just takes me to a different place, you know? Wow, that song is amazing!

i wanna trip inside your head
spend the day there
to hear the things you haven't said
and see what you might see
i wanna hear you when you call
do you feel anything at all?
i wanna see your thoughts take shape
and walk right out

"I'm hanging out to dry with my old clothes
Fingers still red from the prick of an old rose
Well the heart that hurts is the heart that beats
Can you hear the drums slowing
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
To knowing"

wow

you don't have to put up a fight
you don't have to always be right
let me take some of the punches
for you tonight
listen to me now
I need to let you know
you don't have to go it alone--SYCMIOYO

can you see the beauty inside of me
what happened to the beauty I had inside of me---COBL

some pray for others steal---COBL

you can run from love
and if its really love it will find you
catch you by the heel--AMAAW

I actually don't understand that line. Shouldn't it be something like 'some pray and/but others steal'?

Lay down
Lay down your guns
All your daughters of Zion
All your Abraham sons

- Love and Peace or Else

Well the heart that hurts
Is a heart that beats
Can you hear the drummer slowing?

-One Step Closer

Baby slow down
The end is not as fun as the start
Please stay a child somewhere in your heart

-Original of the Species

Of science and the human heart
There is no limit
There is no failure here sweetheart
Just when you quit…

-Miracle Drug

I think its more like this

some pray for.... others steal

like some pray for a higher power and others steal to get satisfcation....

Just a few of my favs so far...

"The soul needs beauty for a soul mate
When the soul wants… the soul waits" … a man and a woman..

"You were pretty as a picture
It was all there to see
Then your face caught up with your psychology
With a mouth full of teeth
You ate all your friends
And you broke every heart thinking every heart mends"..Crumbs

"Freedom has a scent
Like the top of a new born baby’s head" MD

And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
(Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own)

There's bullets ripping sky of ink with gold
They twinkle as the boys play rock and roll
They know that they can't dance
At least they know
(Vertigo)

ALL of One Step Closer, I appreciate the music of that one more than the lyrics.

I think my favorite song is "Love and Peace or Else"

too early to answer this, something will move me live and that will do it

I love the sentiment behind A man and a woman though...

The only pain is to feel nothing at all

Hm, I guess so, though I'm still not that sure about it. But if Bono's grammar is all I have to complain about ("I'd believe if I was able" in Crumbs should be "were able"), then I am very happy indeed!

Come on now show your soul/ You've been keeping your love under control

Take this soul/ Stranded in some skin and bone/ Take this soul/ And make it sing... YAHWEH!!!

The soul needs beauty for a soulmate.

I really like that one because they ripped it out of "Always".......

"With a mouth full of teeth, you ate all your friends
And you broke every heart thinking every heart mends"
--CRUMBS FROM YOUR TABLE

"And you speak of signs and wonders
But I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But Im waiting on the crumbs from your table"
--CRUMBS FROM YOUR TABLE

"And its you that makes it hard to let go"
--SYCMIOYO

First verse of Miracle Drug

two lyrics that have entranced me so far:

sometimes you can't make it:

'can you hear me when i ...sing (the song takes off, and it's unbelievable)/you're the reason i sing'

original of the species:

'i want the lot of what you've got/and i want nothing that you're not'

a fellow grammar nerd! i was thinking the same thing about that line.

All of Crumbs, especially:
"Where you live should not decide whether you live or whether you die."

The lyric is "hate all of your friends".

The opening line of Crumbs, along with the guitar does it for me, the way Bono's voice rises during "From the brightest star comes the blackest hole" is great.

Totally agree! The best one, i love Bono singing it!:)

And also:
"The end is not as fun as the start"
- Original
(this is very true for me)
