Just wondering what everyone's favorite lyrics from the album are?

Here are my two favorite:

"The sun is coming up, the sun is coming up on the ocean
This love is like a drop in the ocean
This love is like a drop in the ocean
This love is like a drop in the ocean"

and

"You speak of signs and wonders
I need something other
I would believe if I was able
But I'm wating on the crumbs from your table"

"God I need your help tonight"
that coupled with the solo blows me away.

(thats Miracle Drug in case you're wondering)

there's two for me.

"Can you hear me when I sing
You are the reason I sing
You're the reason why the opera is in me"

And that is just as much for the delivery as the lyric.

And from COBL, which I really didnt like the lyrics for at first but this one hit me today......

"And they are advertising in the skies for people like us."

I love the way bono never minds being too modest.

"Can - you - hear - me – when – I -
Sing, you’re the reason I sing
You’re the reason why the opera is in me… "

and

"Well the heart that hurts
Is a heart that beats
Can you hear the drummer slowing? "

Beneath the noise
Below the din
I hear your voice
It's whispering
In science and in medicine
I was a stranger
You took me in

Just love the way Edge sings it. :D

Also: "I like the sound of my own voice"

I like the sound of your voice too, Bono!

Hey Newfoundland, I am originally from Cape Breton but i moved to Nebraska a few months ago.

Hey did you hear the one about the newfie, the irishman and the priest?

Just kidding:)

Eh b'y, don't start with the Newfie jokes. ;)

This one is just way too beautiful and sad:
"Well wait now
Still got to let you know
A house doesn't make a home
Don't leave me here alone"

This one from Crumbs is also pretty damn strong:
"Where you live should not decide
Whether you live or whether you die
Three to a bed
Sister Ann, she said dignity passes by"

This one kicks ass:
"As you enter this life
I pray you depart
With a wrinkled face
And a brand new heart"

A very rock star moment now:
"I’m alive
I’m being born
I just arrived, I’m at the door
Of the place I started out from
And I want back inside"

Just perfect now:
"Take this mouth
So quick to criticise
Take this mouth
Give it a kiss"

Great lyrics!!!!!

"take this shirt
polyester white trash made in nowhere"

and of course...(and sometimes I get a lump in my throat during this one)...

"take this heart
take this heart
take this heart
and make it break"

i confess, 'yahweh' is the only song that has not totally captivated me yet, but i do love that this is the last lyric on the album.

dandy,
give it some more time. maybe you have to be in the right mood or something, but it is so amazing to me.

"..and make it break".....

Take this heart and make it break....how to dismantle an atomic bomb.

blew my mind.

oh yeah, i'll keep listening. the song builds as it goes. i know i'll have a moment where i'll just suddenly *get* it.

Yep, that's the entire message of the album summed up nicely right at the end. Brilliant. This is currently blowing my mind as well.

"I've had enough of romantic love. I'd give it up yeah i'd give it up for a miracle...a miracle drug." The song just speaks to me...

I love that. The Elvis "Baaaby"..... having a laugh at himself...

When I made that connection tonignt, my first thought was no one would ever hear that... I didn't the first few 20 or so times I've played it..
I should know better:wink:

Oh and
"How can I hurt when I'm holding you"
Just does me in

'lay your love on the track
we're gonna break the monsters back'

&

'the only pain is to feel nothing at all
how can i hurt when i'm holding you'

'the songs are in your eyes, I see them when you smile'

'baby slow down, the end is not as fun as the start
please stay a child somewhere in your heart
I give you everything you want
except the thing you want'
