"Father is an Elephant"

This is quite interesting. Anyone who has checked out the pics of the briefcase content may have noticed some potential song titles, such as "The Cry," "Julie Says," and... "Father is an Elephant." Anyone care to hypothesize?

Well, the guitar of The Cry, which regularly appeared at the start of The Electric Co. live, became Is That All?, and I've only heard one performance of Father Is An Elephant, but I think it's a pretty cool song. Can't figure out the lyrics though, because the quality of my MP3 is so poor.

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I knew that much you guys I just wasn't aware that Father is an Elephant was ever even played. That's nuts.

They only played it about 5 or 6 times in Nov/Dec 1980 and they closed those shows with it. Unfortunately there is only one known recording of it circulating and it is very mediocre quality.

Father is an elephant is my one of my favourite rareities. I just wish they fixed it up and put it on an album, it was brilliant.
