"Fast Cars" is the perfect closing song to HTDAAB. It concludes the paranoia and fear motif present on 'Vertigo" and the desert theme as well. Plus, it is a great coda to "Yahweh." Jjust when you think everything is calm and peaceful again with "Yahweh" there you are zapped back into the crazy reality of "CCTV, pornography...CNBC" cell phones etc. Just as The Edge said "Love is Blindess" was a "crushingly real" song to close AB, the same can be said of "Fast Cars" for HTDAAB. The import version of HTDAAB with "Fast Cars" is the essential version!

I adore Fast Cars! But I think it should have been included as a regular part of the album (not a bonus track) & the placement should have been a little different...maybe after OOTS??

Regardless, it's such a smokin' little tune - can't get it out of my head right now, but that's perfectly OK with me! :D

they screwed up the drums in the fast cars mix, should have been more like xanax and wine.... xanax overall is better than fast cars... doesn't hide what its trying to say, and it says it with the raw energy it needs to be said

xanax is an anti-anxiety med, kind of like the modern day valium. you're not supposed to drink alcohol with xanax--all kinds of bad things could happen.

i do like 'xanax and wine' more than 'fast cars'. i'm not entirely sure why yet, though. :hmm:

I think Fast Cars is more unique than Xanax, but the latter would have fitted in brilliantly with the mooted "rock" album...its a song loaded with hooks and catchiness.

Do people usually take Xanax while drinking wine?

my guess would be no. i know i don't usually take drugs while drinking wine.

i think the title refers to a drug-induced stupor to block out the incessant nattering and noise of the media/the outside world.

I've burned myself a copy 2 keep in my car, with "Mercy" and "Are You Gonna Wait Forever" after Fast Cars on the special edition.....I love it that way.

Where is this song, "Mercy"?
Also, can you download Xanax and Wine on itunes? I want that, too!

I have mixed Xanax and alchohol before ( when I would fly) and I wouldn't recommend it. Xanax is helpful with anxiety tho, esp things like flying or crossing bridges or something.

I still can't get over the fact that they didn't include the song that contains the freakin' title of the album in the lyrics! Personally I think it would have fit in nicely after Love and Peace or Else.

I really like the track and think it should've made the album.....however, it's a poor closer...I didn't buy the expensive book version of the album partly because of that reason.
