I really like the solo he plays in live versions of Last Nite On Earth.

Yes, a good solo. Sometimes a minimalist approach is the best approach. Last Night On Earth is one of U2's songs the worked live the best imo.

#1, Best Edge Solo Ever!: 11 O'CLOCK TICK TOCK!!
2) The Fly
3) UTEOTW
4) Bullet (Live)
5) Mysterious Ways (slide solo)
6) One Tree Hill (Lovetown)
7) Last Night on Earth (live)
8) With or Without You (R&H)
9) All I Want Is You
10) Sunday Bloody Sunday

1. Bullet the Blue Sky (tons of great ones, I like the Zoo Tv video version the best)
2. The Fly
3. Until the End of the World
4. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock (pure rock love)
5. Mysterious Ways
6. Sunday Bloody Sunday
7. EBTTRT
8. Walk On
9. One

Edge isn't Eddie Van Halen or anything....he makes amazing sounds with his guitar, but he isn't about the shredding and all, so there aren't too many tracks you can point too...

...however, this new album is a ROCK record. So I'm guessing it'll have a lot of that sort of thing.

i dont think edge can shreed on the guitar. he keeps it simple for him self so when they play live he does not have to worry about playing this or that ultra fast solo.
the fly.
utnotw.
btbs(live )
these are the only true guitar solos by edge!
i dont think there will be any guitar solos like(the fly or utnotw) on the new album. i think it will be more of a guitar riff album. like the new song ABOY.

i still dont know why edge never learned how to play the blues.
thats the best sound a guitar can make!(OR one of the best)

but if he wants to play rhythm guitar then its fine with me.

i would just like to comment on The Fly solo...

Its so good i have trouble describing the feelings it raises in me... it sounds pretentious but when i listen to it, it feels like my heart is being pierced by the very sound. Its thrusting and vigorous, and every tone is where it should be.

1. 11 O'clock Tick Tock
2. Bullet The Blue Sky (ZooTV)
3. The Fly
4. Twilight
5. New Year's Day
6. God Part II (live)
7. One Tree Hill (Lovetown)
8. Hawkmoon 269 (live)
9. The Cry/The Electric Co. (live)
10. Until The End Of The World

Ask me tomorrow, and that will be totally different besides 1-2 and the inclusion of Twilight somewhere. Right now, I'm on a real Lovetown trip ...

I pretty much agree with everyone has written. One song that I thing Edge really captures the mood of the song with his solo is "If You Wear That Velvet Dress" I love that solo for some reason.

I think the "The Fly" is Edges best work. That solo is out of this universe.

The break before Bono goes into:

Sunlight, sunlight fills my room...

Edge plays a good while. Its pretty straight foward but goes well with the song. Take a listen. He also played it during the live version in Las Vegas (Opening night). It was pretty raw live and that song was cut short later on in the tour.

Also, don't forget "Love Is Blindness" Live.

1. acrobat
2. the fly
3. uteotw
4. love is blindness (live)
5. mysterious ways (live)

Love is Blindness live. Birmingham June 1st 1992. BEST EDGE SOLO EVER!!! It is three minutes long. Edge's best performance is on that track.
So, that was the ultimate first and the next nine are:

2. Bullet the Blue Sky(ZooTV versions)
3. The Fly
4. Acrobat
5. 11 O'Clock Tick Tock
6. Mysterious Ways(live)
7. Dirty Day(live - Adelaide November 16th 1993)
8. Gone(live - Boston dvd)
9. Until the End of the World
10.Even Better Than the Real Thing

also, The Ground Beneath Her Feet. And Desire, version from Rotterdam January 10th 1990. And many, many more...

Edge's Solos

Edge is my favorite guitarist, but honestly hes not an expert. i play guitar and edge does keep it simple but Its his orginal riffs that make him the star he is and thats awesome. he really only has 3 solos:

Bullet the Blues Sky Live
The Fly
UTEOTW

when he does solo he uses lots of delay to give a sound like hes hitting strings much quicker than he really is. like in the fly or last night on earth
but it does sound awesome

djerdap,

i'd love to hear that version of Love is Blindness (Birmingham June 1st 1992) its my absolute favorite live edge guitar solo. i'm always playing the sydney video to listen to it. could you please send a zip file of that if you have it? id really appreciate it. thanks.

Ya, Im surprised more people didnt mention the "Love is Blindness" (live) guitar solo. The one from ZooTV Sydney, for example. Its simply amazing what he does with his guitar in those two minutes!
