Do U2 overthink their songs in the studio?

Yet Bono would argue it's very under thought when it comes to lyrics. Personally I like the lyrics but I know quite a few that think they are too simplistic or cliche.

They are a bit simplistic, but they work. Some songs don't need terribly in-depth lyrics to be brilliant. Streets is one of them. Uplifting songs work better with simplistic lyrics anyway. Leave the deep stuff for depressing songs.
