did bono smoke during the joshua tree ,erra.

when did bono start smoking, i think it was during the zootv days.
you do not see him smoking in R&H or in any of the early vids.
and does second hand smoking effect your voice as a singer.(i know im asking too much

I know smoking definitly screws your voice over. I dont know how drastic of an effect second hand smoke would have.

Didnt Bono quit smoking for ATYCLB?? That's kinda why he had that weight gain I thought.

Definitely messes with your voice. I think the added phlegm causes you to bugger up your vocal chords.

I think it was after the Pop Tour that he started to having problems with his voice, and found that it was due to allergies, and he give up smoking.

Your vocal folds are pieces of skin that vibrate together and generate a sound. They are covered with slim to make the vibrating/rubbing action possible. When you smoke, you dry those fold out, so it's like rubbing them together with no lubrication.

And as blatantly sexual as that explanation may sound, it is why smoking as bad for your voice.
