Wowzers Penny! I never knew things got so heated on this site....
Who am I kidding, this happens all the time.

I'm tired of all the negativity, and stating opinion as fact!
"Hay guyZ, da Bomb is teh better than Joshoea tree cuz i sed so.!1?" "j00 must b def if u kant here dat unforgetabul fyr is totally da best and bom sucks cuz bano talks about smelling babies. wut up wit dat?" and that goes for both of you! Bomb lovers and haters! :madwife:

I'm gonna make a thread where you HAVE to post 1 thing you like about U2, in seriousness, and nothing else! That way history will be made, and we'll have the first ever positive thread in interference! and the children will dance, and play! and the world will be full of candy!

 that'll never happen, people will turn it into a "blindly following U2 fan bashing thread"

I would like to thank Financeguy for being a voice of reason. There is no hidden agenda, the polls were NOT created just to bash Bomb. The idea that Zooropa beating Bomb was such a profound event that it led to people, including myself, creating the other polls as some sort of coping mechanism is ridiculous, and is the product of the overactive imaginations of few of our posters. Yes, I, and I'm sure many other members of the forum, think Zooropa is light years beyond Bomb. However I, and I'm sure many other members of the forum, was not at all surprised at the fact that Bomb won that particular poll. But it's not like I or anyone else was actually upset or angry about it. The only thing that made me angry where that poll is concerned was a certain individual's immature insistance on rubbing in the fact that Zooropa beat Bomb. Perhaps the Zooropa vs Bomb poll was more important to that individual than it ever was to myself.

And for the record, the 'Vote For The Fire' and 'Vote For The Tree' things were totally tongue-in-cheek, only put there to spice the thread up instead a boring, bland 'Which one is better' kind of thing.

Certain people can think they're right all they want, but they'll be wrong. I really don't give a shit what wins what poll. I may think that the idea of Bomb being better than most of these other records is ludicris, but that doesn't mean I give a rat's ass who wins the polls. I may post comment in any given poll about how I 'can't belive' that Bomb is winning or something like that, but that doesn't mean I am actually angry or hurt or whatever about it - the polls' primary purpose is to generate discussion about how the forum as a whole ranks U2's recent work vs their previous work. That is it. Whatever anyone else thinks is a product of their imagination.

The polls will only work 50 years after the deaths of all 4 U2 members, when music will have twisted and turned and changed so much that the distance between The Joshua Tree and Pop doesn't sound that great, and when art and commerce have merged so far that everyone forgets there was once a time that there were even a blur between the two, and Passengers and Atomic Bomb both sound like an extension of each other. When all the songs off all of these albums have been so far removed from these albums that they are all just individual pieces uploaded into our Central Entertainment System Chips in our brains, as all music is, accompanied by an advertisement, and we judge them as much by the quality of the products they promote as any real quality of music. At that point in time no-one will care if one were experimental and threateing to the classic, which decade they were from, whether they are simplistic and accessible or complicated and requiring attention. All Because of You will be on a level playing field with One Minute Warning. The sound of Mofo will be as traditional, classic and old school as the sound of Where The Streets Have No Name. When all rock is old fashioned so that I Will Follow sounds either as fresh or as stale as Vertigo. The thematic layers and depths of Achtung Baby will be simply a cute oddity as much as the shallows of Atomic Bomb will be the same.

We shall vote then.

Let's have a poll whether we like polls. My vote goes to poll.1-0.... Go Polls

Yes, we should have a poll: "Do you think we should make more polls?" YES MORE POLLS LET'S HAVE A FORUM JUST FOR POLLS!!

Earnie, your view of the future is very interesting... :hmm: that's kind of a scary thought. If all music was used to promote something, music would lose its meaning. But the scary thing is, I can totally see that happening :yikes:  where'd you come up with that idea?

Sort of. And really, everything will be a poll anyway, except you don't have to choose, things just 'will' based on what you really feel. Think about that. "Im Hungry" = a list of eating possibilities, both commercial and hunted/scavenged, will appear in your mind, but you won't really see them because you'll already know what you feel like in that same second and that list will be narrowed down instantly depending on what that image or taste was, all in a split second. Then, because in that split second you thought "Mmm, burger" without even realising it, McDonalds pops into your head, accompanied by Bono "All of this. All of this could be yours", and then of course you just 'know' that the nearest McDonalds is 3 blocks away to your right. So then when you get home from work and you lie in your Media Relaxation Centre and tune your iBrain into Interference.world, you are immediately populating virtual threads and polls just based on how your mind is ticking over naturally. No need to type or think. Polls would ever reflect the changing moods and tastes of those who subscibe to Interference.world. If you voted for The Fly on Tuesday at 8pm, but later felt a warm spot for Bullet The Blue Sky at 8.03pm after someone else mentioned it, your vote automaticaly changes, and in real time this massive information base is swinging and changing, forever liquid. If you don't think of a bunch of songs for a period of time, your brain will release those songs from your immediate reach to free up space for more porn, which you'll get to later once the McDonalds has settled.
