 best way

with fast cars thrown on thrown on the end for us lucky people

Well you see they could have released COBL as the first single, and it would have been big because it was the first U2 song off a new album. Then you follow that up with the Vertigo/Ipod thing and then you have 2 big hits from the record instead of just 1.

1.City of blinding lights
2.Crumbs from your table
3.Native Son
4.Love and peace(Or else)
5.Neon lights
6.Orginal of the species
7.Fast cars
(And if people are confused when fast cars comes on the next song is the rocking alternate
8.Xanix and Wine
9.All because of you
10.Mercy
11.Smile
12.Miracle Drug
13.Vertigo
14.A Man and A Woman
15.Sometimes you can't make it on your own
16.One Step Closer
17.Yahweh

That would have been a great album

Long is brillant, come on 45 minutes of music over 80, i would pick 80, people complain a album is too long then will say its too short, length would be brillant U2 should make a 80 minute album.

But why would you want an album that has multiple versions of the same song? Because honestly, Native Son/Vertigo and Fast Cars/Xanax and Wine are similar enough to not belong on an album together.

Trim the fat. Most CDs that are 80 minutes long have a lot of songs that should have been relegated to B-side status. Including that proposed setlist above (although I think COBL would be a good opener).

Ye but that was put together because of all people saying xaniox is better and Native is better, so know everyone can be happy because there favourite version was not cut

I think 55 minutes is the perfect time for an album. Just under an hour.

If I was U2....

01. City Of Blinding Lights (organ intro, no piano, drums like Race Against Time, 6:53)
02. Vertigo (no spanish, background vocals on chorus like Native Son, solo a'la The Fly after bridge, 4:32)
03. Crumbs From Your Table (no final verse, 4:39)
04. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (begins with just piano, ends with just piano, builds the same, keeps the chorus, 5:31)
05. A Man And A Woman (Edge's really high falsetto near the end "You'll see" or whatever he's saying at a different point of the song, 4:18)
06. One Step Closer (shorter, a little more mellow, 2:32)
07. Love And Peace Or Else (more distortion on the main riff of the chorus, big bluesy solo after the "you and me, me and you" part a'la Bullet The Blue Sky ZooTV style, repeat chorus after solo, 5:37)
08. Fast Cars (Jacknife Lee Version, little acoustic guitar solo, doubled with piano, 3:42)
09. All Because Of You (different melody for chorus, call and echo style like Last Night On Earth, extended solo, 4:31)
10. Miracle Drug (no "freedom has a scent" line!. 4:19)
11. Original Of The Species (REAL string orchestra, not a synthesized one!, no doo-doo's, 4:48)
12. Yahweh (drums like Deep In The Heart, guitar an octave higher and like In God's Country, 4:31)

Total length: 55 min, 53 sec.
A nearly perfect U2 album.
Not quite though. *shrugs*

really like some of these ideas.

I think COBL would have been great as the lead off as well. great buildup, if they brought out Edge's gutiar as well and make it sound like it does live, would be even better.

Off topic, but when I was in Vegas this week, Bally's casino played COBL twice in the couple hours i was playing poker there.
