It's quite sad that so many young girls take example on her."I'm a Slave 4 U", "Hit me baby one more time", ... what kind of messages does these songs and videos convey?

I'm really tired of seeing all those sexist videos. Why can't there be more original music videos out there? Why does it always have to rely on the same formula?

Those bits where she's doing the heavy breathing and umm *bumping* with the male dancers is what really pushes it over the line from kinda toying with sexuality to slutty almost soft porn. And it's a completely shit song. She's really turned herself into a complete joke.

I still think Mandy Moore is the only one of those girls with any sort of possible longevity. She seems to be playing it all right. Doing the young sexy thing, but with a bit of class, and keeping her music in fairly safe middle ground.

At the rate they are going, Britney and Christina will both be washed up and in Playboy by this time next year.

I agree with you here, Naya. It's really sad to see her 'selling' her body in order to make a video 'good'. Especially the later part in the video, what the hell is that??? If you cut the music, it looks exactly the same as a porn video!!! (not that I've seen those video...

I agree with you guys. You don't have to be slutty to be sexy. Destiny's Child - case and point.

When I was at Slane, there was a guy wearing this t-shirt and on the front it said "Christina Sucks" and the back said "Britney Swallows." lmao!! Sorry, just thought it was funny, and well, kinda sums up their careers.

Yeah exactly it looks like an orgy !And she's giving these horny looks to all these different guys. WTF?!?

I'm so tired of seeing these pre-pubescent girls looking like child hookers because they want to copy the look of these "singers" who are only successful because of their bodies.

Oh and I'm also tired of those (mostly) hip hop/rap videos which are all the same things:
The rappers in the jacuzzis with the half naked girls stroking their chest, the close ups of the girls shaking their asses and boobs, those ugly rappers in a club surrounded at a table by 20 women...i could go on..

One hip hop video that was truly original and wasn't dependent on tits and asses was Outkast's "Miss Jackson", with the old house and the pets. Now that was refreshing !

Oh and one more thing: I know that U2 has done some crap videos in the past, but I really admire them for never stooping to the level of some artists. They have never been crass and have always been very respectful in their depiction of women.

She says the song is about being a slave to the music but she's either lying to all of us or really gullible and just spouting what the song's writer told her.

and on a side note, she and her boyfriend Justin live in a house together now but she says she's still a virgin. My ass she is. What kind of message are you sending to girls that you can dress like a slut, live with your boyfriend and still be "pure"? That song is so AWFUL. Sounds like porno music gone bad (if there is such a thing).

I find it hard to argue about how bad it is for Brittney being a role model for young girls. I was 4 when Like a Virgin came out, and worshipped Madonna when I was a kid. My friends and I wanted to be like her, and when we'd hang out, we would dress like her (all slutty) and put on tons of makeup and dance to her songs. I came out OK though.
But anyway, I destest Brittney. I do admit to liking Destiny's child though. They do have talent.

And Brittney being a virgin??? What a bunch of shit. Yeah, I'm sure when her and Justin go to her house in L.A. for the weekend that they just sit around and watch movies.

This is a great thread and I am glad you started it.

Ideally, I would love to just sit back and let these bubble gummers make whatever type of videos they wanted. Unfortunately, kids copy what they see on TV and in music videos. When little girls watch Brittney or Christina Aguilera get all that attention from dressing like a slut, they figure they should do it also to receieve the same type of attention.

What type of message is that to send? I believe it says, "Sure, you can dress like a slut and get lots of attention from boys. And you can be rich and famous too." Brittney can line her pockets all she wants, but not everyone is a fool. She should be exposed for her incessant greed and overt willingness to be a slut, despite the social implications of her actions. That, my friends, is dirty and distateful. Not everything in this world is about the bottom line.

hmmmm...at the risk of getting flamed:

1) Britney has always used her looks in videos. from Baby one more time onward. it's not like we haven't seen it before.

2) it's her music and her life. it's her choice how she wants to present herself and her music.

3) as for her fans: i don't know how old they are, but i think a person should get a little more credit than that and not follow every single thing Britney (or any other pop star) does.

4) really, her private life is none of our business. (come to think of it, i don't even know why she has been saying anything about it at all).

before everyone jumps out and screams i am a fan or anything: i am not. i don't care for her music (though i kinda liked From the bottom of my broken heart), it just bugs me that people attack her for the way she dresses (as if there aren't huge amounts of women dressed just like her every day in videos).
