Was it me or was Bono's speech accepting the VMA hurt by the fact that the crowd had no idea what "Dodgy" meant....I mean I was laughing my ass off when he said "We made some pretty dodgy videos with some pretty dodgy haircuts..." but the crowd didn't seem to find that funny. Do they not know the meaning of "dodgy?"

What was Howard Stern saying????

He hates Bono.

Ever since the 94 grammys when Howard told his crew "Get me Bono" and they could not deliver, he has hated U2. Although very funny at times, he is a dodgy fellow.

As I said on other threads, THIS is DODGY. I didn't like Bono's remarks. U2 are not and have never been dodgy.

hahahahahahahahahaha

all i will say is this

this just shows U2 are on a different plane from anyone else

and that Europe and America have never been so far apart!!

Yes, this is what I have been trying to say! How dare Bono feel he must make jokes about any of his videos the way that collection of atrocities looked last night! Read this!

Fashions feature elegance, tackiness, trashiness; The MTV Music Awards
A. Scott Walton

U2 frontman Bono left a few things out Thursday night while chiding MTV
for "celebrating a lot of dodgy haircuts over the years" through its
annual Video Music Awards.

Bono --- stroking a mane of his own that looks suspiciously fuller all
of a sudden --- left out the sort of award night costumes that the Kid
Rocks, Lil' Kims and 'N Syncs of the music world strut the red carpet
in.

Artists like Kelly Rowland (of Destiny's Child) wasted their breath
divulging before the show that it took "two hours" or less to dress for
the industry's awards night. What many of them wore made that painfully
obvious. Jennifer Lopez looked great in her pale, pristine mambo outfit
in the show's opening dance routine; visible panty lines aside, of
course. Overall, though, she lost style points appearing on the same
stage with Ja Rule (in his so-last-year Burberry cap) and with both her
ex- and her current boyfriend in the audience.

Other notables: Pamela Anderson and the aforementioned Mr. Rock tried
to cement the trashy images they've adopted, apparently, by dressing in
the limo they came in. He donned his Bob Seger concert T-shirt on the
way up the red carpet, and she shed all shame in a spiderweb top and
hipless hot pants. The raunchy quartet that covered "Lady Marmalade" in
the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack showed up and, predictably: Pink looked
the most confident in her fishnet thong-itard; Lil' Kim looked the
tackiest in her suffocating clothes and spray-painted wig; Christina
Aguilera looked the cheapest in her dirty denims; and Mya --- oufitted
like Mrs. Racer X in a striped black body suit --- really has gained a
lot of weight. Wait: Take back that stuff about 'N Sync. Get a load of
what the Backstreet Boys wore. Since when is a wrap skirt and an Evel
Knievel jacket like Kevin Richardson's considered heart-throbby? Quick
hits: Janet Jackson looked disturbingly gaunt, and just as confused, in
her '60s-style Apple cap, '70s thigh-boots and '80s lace dress. . . .
OutKast's Big Boi and Dre looked like outcast extras from Spike Lee's
film, "Bamboozled," in their respective purple fox dungarees and
watermelon-print bib overalls (coming soon, they boast, to an OutKast
Clothing outlet near you). . . . Host Jamie Foxx's harlequin-quilt,
collarless suede jacket reflected the "rich space athlete" aesthetic
that designers Kenneth Cole, Girbaud and Gene Meyer are leaning toward.
. . . Destiny's Child's flight of fancy was patchworked denim trimmed in
feathers and stitched in suede. . . . Up-and-comer Macy Gray poured her
heart out in a color-blocked dress that bore the message: "My New Album
Drops Sept. 18, 2001."

Can someone explain the finer points of the fishnet thong-itard?
