But probably a football.

I knew it!

From a review by Gracia Cardeal
They went out from the mirror ball wearing the uniform of our football (soccer) team, yellow and green (cause we are the world champion), the t-shirts got the name of each one on the back and the number was 10 for them all, like real football players. Bono was holding a football/soccer mirror ball.

It's a bit of a no-brainer really. Brasil and football. :)

C ya!

Marty

BTW, this was on the first night, thus 27-1-1998.

Oops. It seems the review I looked at was from their concert in Rio de Janeiro, not Sao Paulo.

I still go with the football. ;)

The show is plenty of references to football/soccer/whatever. The football/soccer mirror ball was one of them, and it was present in all 3 concerts, as far as I know. It was a World Cup year, 1998, the one we fell in disgrace,...only to recover splendidly in 2002 ;) Some band members had played football with stars of that time, like Rom?rio and Edmundo, during their stay in Brazil. I guess they were very excited about that, as much as the crowd was about seeing them finally performing in these lands.
